Cool Cigar for a newbie friend

I have a friend who has never had a cigar before and came to me for a recommendation. I am torn between making the standard mild Macanudo recommendation vs recommending something a little more powerful and specialized like the CAO Brazillia. I don't want to overpower him, but I also don't want to bland him to death.

What would you recommend to a friend as their first?

I would suggest a Casa Torano, it's a milder cigar but full of flavour.

I like the Casa Torano suggestion. My first was a Macanudo and it hooked me.

5 Vegas Gold sits nicely between the Brazilia and Macanudo (IMO)
also the Baccarat robusto and maybe a ROyal Jamican Gold (very sweet and mild)

Good suggestion, brother.
The Casa Torano is a great first smoke.
"Milder but full of flavor" is a good way to describe it.

Great suggestion. If you can afford it, you might even try a monte white. Other than that I'd say stick with the Casa Torano.

maybe a RyJ bully, or something tubed. or maybe a punch pita or rothschilds, or you could never go wrong with a padron x000. nothing too special, but would do the trick for a first time smoke.

I would say Casa Torano or Baccarat.

Re: Cigar for a newbie friend

Macanudo Gold is what hooked me, that and the RyJ Reserva Real. Since then I, like many above me, have discovered the Casa Torano to be a delicious but very mild smoke. I gave my roomate a Rocky Patel Connecticut as his first smoke, he seemed to enjoy it, but I wish I had had a PC to give him...he only smoked about and inch and a half before putting it down
