I have 1.5 pounds of heartfelt 65% beads in my 120qt cooler and it is rock solid at 65%.

I added about a half pound of the KL beads just as an experiment and they made my RH slowly raise up to 68% and then 72% over three days. I think I might just put a very small quantity of KL beads in there as as a reservoir but I just can't see using KL beads on their own to control your RH.

An Aristocrat Delta 3000, 3-150qt coolers, 2 small cabinet humidors and 4 desktops. Right now I'm using about 4lbs but in a month or less I'll add KL to my Aristo to reduce the humidity during the spring/summer.

I'm just glad I don't have ODO

I have found that used kitty litter doesn't work very well at all.

George I think you need to remove the cat poop first Seriously though, why chance your investment with Kitty Litter?

You added dry KL and the humidity went up? Dry KL should make the humidity drop. You didn't put in used did you

No chance, just great results. I wouldn't put my smokes at risk I love em too much

I was skeptical at first and was told to try this: put a bowl of water in a cooler with some KL for a week they will stop aborbing @ about 68%, take out 2-4oz and put them in a tupperware container with a hygrometer it wont go over 70%. I tried and it worked and I've used them for years.

Would I use KL only in a 100-150qt cooler. NO. Could you. YES
Would I use Beads only in a 100-150qt cooler. NO. Could you. YES
Would I use them with an active device to help stablize and prevent humidity pockets. YES I do.
I like my system and it's easy for me. I add water 2-3 times in the winter and never in the summer. I take out the canisters in my Set n Forget and let the Hydra & CO's go dry in summer and add KL to keep the humidity down. I change the SAP's every 18-24 months and am still using my 8lbs of KL. My beads are Climaxx (pre Heartfelt) and are 3+ years old and getting very small but still working.

Use what you feel comfortable using, there are many ways to skin a cat, I like mine. If any of you ever get to Mid-Missouri we can golf, have dinner & drinks and try a few cigars all on me.

Re: Kitty Litter for RH???

I have been using kitty litter for over a year now with no problems in my various Tuppberdoors. I would not hesitate to recommend them at all.

If I had that many cigars, I would rather wait on one box than risk the whole collection on an inferior humidifying product. I could save money on car insurance by just running Liability too, but somethings are an investment not an expense.

I use KL to replenish my Heartfelts...

I fill a container of KL with beads..add water directly to that...then put it in my humi so that the heartfelt can absorb the water the KL give off.

Try using SAP's they hold a lot of water and the chances of water spillimg on your cigars are almost nil.

Again I see no risk, my cigars smoke great and would bet any amount nobody can tell the difference in a cigar stored in my cabinets/coolers vs one stored using beads or any other properly stored cigars using any method.

Is KL alone the best way to store your cigars, not for me but it does what I want it to do and does it better than beads (reducing humidity). If I were doing a desktop or small cooler I'd probably use beads but KL would do the job just as well IMHO.

We can debate this to death and like politics both sides believe they are are right. Until I find a better way I'll continue to use my method because it works for me. Again if you are in Mid-MO lmk and well put a few to a firey death and you can decide for yourself.

OK I've never put water directly on KL, I did once on beads and they split but still worked, I just let them absorb water from a bowl or sponge or a Hydra/CO which imho works best.

You could humidify with about anything, cigars are tougher than most people think. My favorite B&M just put water on the brick floor every morning, sadly a smoking ban forced them to move but the new place a smoking lounge

Re: Kitty Litter for RH???

Yea, I am letting them dry out and I will put a little bit of dry KL beads in a small humi have laying around with a few cheap sticks and see what happens.
