Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
I'm a newish smoker living in Canada. I'm going to be making a trip to Phoenix/Vegas in May and was hoping the members of this forum could offer some recomendations on cigars. NC's are expensive as hell up here and I thought I would place an order from JR and have it sent to my real estate agents office in Phoenix for pickup in a few weeks.
With that in mind, I'm hoping to get some recomendations on selection. As mentioned I'm pretty new to this and want to get my collection off to a good start. I've read and made notes on the beginner brands thread but thought I'd look for some specifics based on these criteria: * Mild-Medium bodied smokes * Corona sized * Under $7 a stick * Brands carried by JR All the aboce are only guidelines, open to any suggestions. Any ideas on brands etc are very appreciated. As I learn more about stogies I'll make sure to pay it forward! |

I don't think JRs carries any of those sticks. I say CAO Brazilia. But, I don't think JRs is one of the better places for NCs.

Re: Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
Your right, they don't carry any of those brands although they do carry CAO. Notes. I'll include some in my order!
The reason I've chosen JR as the source is they have a lot of 5 pack samplers which make sense as I look for cigars that I like. With that in mind, working from the following link, what would everyone recommend??: http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...0BRAND%20PACKS |

Re: Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
Famous Smoke also carries lotsa fivers (though not nicely organized like JRs) and offers a much better selection of NCs IMO. Including the Rockys and Don Pepins. In fact, you can nab a fiver of the Nic 3000s dirt cheap and they taste great. Anyway, good luck!

Re: Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
Anything you can get by rocky patel for $2-$3 a stick. The Edge and Sungrowns are his best. Anything by La Flor Dominica. Anything by Pepin you can find in shops. All of those are top-notch.

Out of that 5er list you posted, the only ones I would spend my $$ on are:

Re: Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
^^ Those Hoyos are really good. Also check TMatts 'cheap smokes' thread for some top-notch sticks under $2-$3, worth well more than sticker. For $5-$7 I don't think you can beat LFD stuff, and a few select fuentes.

Re: Recomendations Wanted - NC Selection
I've gotta ask.
Why? The only advice I can offer is to not buy too many Rocky's and Pepin's because if you are used to Cuban smokes then you may be disappointed. And I wouldn't try 'anything' by Rocky...I'd stick with Sungrown, Vintage, Olde World Reserve, and Decade (pricey!). Being that you are in Canada, I would heartily recommend the Bolivar Royal Corona. I'm jealous! |
