The big problem would be if it fits in carry on luggage size, which i am not sure if you are aware but more and more airlines are cracking down on the size you are allowed. Secondly are you sure you want to subject your humi to all the hazards that go with air travel. Personally i would ship it. If you are worried about it double overpack it.

once again my

Sorry for the confusion, you had originally said he would not be able to take it on the plane himself, which was the problem I had with the statement. He would be able to take it on the plane, you would just advise against it. Glad you cleared that up.

Let me get this straight, you would prefer to ship it via major parcel service where Joe C. Employee can practically play football with your package without you knowing while enroute as opposed to carrying it yourself and controlling what happens to it? I'm not sure I really understand your logic. Not to mention, airtravel allows for semi-controlled conditions, as opposed to any parcel service where your stock of cigars could be sitting on a truck stewing in high temperatures.

A 100 count humi is not mammoth, all of the 100ct's I have would easily fit into a carry-on with room to spare for bubble wrap or other padding as 'insurance'.

ok. I have seen all kinds of things carried, and have advised people countless times to ship something rather than carry it. There are shipping companies that you can buy overpack boxes from, they are usally re-enforced with wood so you can put a fiberboard box in the middle of it and not have to worry.

Re: Flying with a 100ct desktop humidor

I have to ship IT parts all over the world for my job. Rarely do we encounter a problem. I would say put all of the smokes in a big humidi-pouch and place in a box with a lot of packing peanuts & heavy paper.

Ship the humi separately with some water pillows or dymistat tubes. Again package accordingly and send it out. IMO it is too much hassle to carry on a humi. Plus; you'll have to stow it overhead where someone could bash it with their carry-on or you'll have to shove it underneath a seat where it could get scratched.

That being said we love our smokes so it is your call.

Re: Flying with a 100ct desktop humidor

i spent 20+ years working with air freight. If it really important to you, you overpack it very smartly. Put the humi in a plastic bag, then inside of a box, with plenty of padding, put that box inside of another box again with plenty of padding. This outer box should either be reinforced fiberboard or strong plastic. If you really want to be sure pack that one in another box with plenty of padding.
