Question Flying with a 100ct desktop humidor

I am moving across the country in about a month. Is this pretty much the only way to transport my cigars - carry on the 100ct humidor with me on my lap?

Anyone with experiences what to do with cigars in moving? Thank god my collection is limited...that would be painful.

You could always ship it also. Ive shipped a humi just packed really tightly in a box with bubblewrap and it came out really well.

Re: Flying with a 100ct desktop humidor

I think the best option would be to mail the cigars ahead of you, you can then put some water pillows in there and make sure none of them would be bouncing around in the package. USPS Priority could probably ship them for about $15-20 and in 2 days, they could be waiting at the doorstep when you arrived if you mailed them a few days before you left.

If you would rather not mail them ahead, airport security wise, you should have no problems. Make sure that they do not try to make you gate check it or put them under the plane. I did bring a 50 count humi back with me from LA to Cincinnati without problem.

If you decide to fly or ship them, I would get yourself some of the 5 finger bags or make sure they are packed tightly or something to make sure they aren't bouncing around on the flight or in the mailing.

Best of luck moving the cigars.

Agreed. No offense to you, but long story.

Shipping ahead sounds like a good idea to me. Typically how bombs are sent. Just pack them well and humidify them to be safe. Good luck with the move.

Just start smoking like a mad man, and problem solved. Then you have an excuse to buy more cigars.

Are you shipping a car? You could always throw it in the trunk.

Where are you headed? You could always ship to a brother close to you new location for safekeeping.

In everything I've had shipped I'd have to say UPS and Fedex have both screwed up one time or the other. That being said in our business we ship all of our product by Fedex ground, and I have to say this we hear alot less complaints about damages from our customers than the ones that ask us to ship using their UPS account. Important thing if it's packed very well, preferably with firm styrofoam that fits around the humi, insure it for the value it would cost you to replace all of the cigars and humi and you should be fine. I would stick with ground shipping in this case.

Re: Flying with a 100ct desktop humidor

you probably would not be able to take it on the plane yourself. best bet is to ship it using the major players and pack it really well. Over pack is what you want to use and use plenty of bubble wrap and make sure it does not move around.

I don't know where you are getting your information from but you most definitely can.

I took a large 50 count cross country without problem.

Why would they stop a person from having a legal item on an airplane then? If it fits in a carry on, which most 100 counts will, why could he not fly with it? Security will not stop him, why would the airplane crew itself?
