We do. They claim its an "Agricultral" inspection. In reality its a chance to have someone stop you, look into your car, take pictures with automated digital cameras and if you don't fit thier profile, ask you some questions.

I go SF - Reno and back fairly often to visit a friend up there. I've rarely seen the checkpoint at 80 staffed.

We didn't have the internet when I was a teenager & I smoked a pack or two a day. Protect the kids my ash! There surely aren't people out there swallowing that big fatty are there?

Why don't they just give the real reason without seasoning it with some moralist ?

We as Canadians are not allowed to ship cigars to anyone in Canada and I know at least not to the US, not sure about the UK. When I sent cigars to some people here that live in the US, it says on the custom form, no tobacco products allowed. But we are allowed to receive from anywhere in the world.
