Aristoff

Man I had one of thoes today, and I have to say it was the best smoke I have ever had. Till today I have never really been able to tast different thing that I hear more experenced smokers describe. But with this one I could tast it. It started slow having a nipple tip. Kind of tasting like wood but one inch in and it opened up to a world of flavors that I loved. It was sweet, then I could tast chocolat, I was shocked. I think I got it from Volt so thank you again. Now i just have to get my hand on some more.

Re: Aristoff

Oh man, I bought a box of these of CI about two years ago figuring a Nicaraguan puro for $20 a box, how could I go wrong. Well, it was such a bitter harsh nasty smoke I gave it a try or two and quit. Maybe I'll try another and see if time did anything for it.

Re: Aristoff

I believe there are two different life cycles in theses cigars. When they initially came out they were very good but then the brand died. The brand was resurrected and the current cigars are not very good. This is not from my experience. I haven't tried the resurrected brand. This is what I read.

I did try an original Aristoff. I got it in a sampler from JBI. It was a great smoke! I have one more here.

Re: Aristoff

I love the Aristoff brand on CBID, these are my work cigars. While not a top end cigar, the size and taste suits me quite well. It is a good little cigar in my opinion.

Re: Aristoff

I picked up a couple boxes of the Blacks off c-bid. I used to smoke the Blacks a few years back & liked em. When I first got these they kinda let me down, but after a few months rest, they have come around to be a tasty smoke.

I gave away my last original Aristoff to Deucer in the Newbie PIF thread a few weeks ago. It was a black label sealed in its own plastic coffin. Interesting looking thing.

They were a pretty popular brand in the late 90s, retailed for about $10 a stick, but failed once the boom ended. One day in 2000 JR announced they bought the entire inventory from the manufacturer and blew them out for $3 a stick.

As the brand died off (1st incarnation) I got a box from JR. They were excellent. Got two more - they were some strange price, like $29.95 a box back in '99 or '00. They were incredible. Went to get more. None left. Now I see them back again, was wondering if this was the same cigar or a reincarnation... Glad I didn't pull.

Santiago Cabana is another one, see Perdomo is resurrecting this one. I remember this a a very nice mild cigar, again a JR buy-out of a dyin brand.

Another brand I miss is Cupido. They were excellent too.

The Cupido is supposedly back. Look for Carolina?? at Cuban Crafters.
