Do you Smoke Cigarettes???

i currently smoke cigs and keep going from trying to quit to half a pack a day again (which i consider quite a bit for myself). I usually smoke a lot of cigs during the work since the labor i do is frustrating at times and i'm ALWAYS outside so i don't need to ask for a "smoke break" i can just smoke while i work. But during weekends i cut back to 2 or 3 a day. Been smoking cigs for 2 years and i find the best way to slow down without getting cravings are toothpicks. i keep a jar of toothpicks next to my computer/in my room and i try to always carry a small hand full if i go out at nights.

Unfortunately yes. I've tried quitting a couple times, but I just can't seem to kick the habit. I have a love/hate relationship with my cigarettes. I hate the price, the health effects and the addiction, but they're just so damn good.

You have to be 100% committed to quit smoking, and I just haven't reached that point yet. I still derive a great deal of satisfaction from cigarettes. Someday soon I hope to quit, but realistically that's still probably a long way off.

I smoked cigarettes from when I was 16 until I was 32. I haven't had one now for 21 years, but I always missed them. I knew if I had one, though, I'd be hooked again.

I started smoking cigars a couple of years ago, largely because I still missed smoking. Now, I have no desire for a cigarette - I'll just have a cigar.

I tried taking up pipe smoking this past winter, but didn't really get into it. I think I'll just stick with cigars.

Started smoking cigarettes in the Marines, quit a few years after I got out (about 9 years ago). Smoked nothing till about a year ago when I started cigars. Now I can't imagine smoking a cigarette.

Quit cigs about 3 years ago. I have an addictive personality and was scared to try (1.5 packs per day for 15years), but when I did it, I found it to be quite easy for me.

The bonus is I enjoy cigars much more now that I stopped cigs and get much more flavor out of cigars now.

If anybody has experience with Chantix I would love to hear about.

My advice having not actually quit would be to start a thread in the "everything but cigars forum" kind of like a support group. I'm in for starting a week from tomorrow. Headed to the deer lease this coming weekend and it just ain't happening while I'm out there.

And a coworker of mine got through those first two weeks by chugging water and eating sugar free gummy worms when he got cravings.

I also quit with Chantix. I smoked for 10 years. I even got a Rolex out of the deal!!


I will say though, I will never let another substance grab me by the balls like cigarettes did.
I only reward myself with cigars now. Not NEARLY as often as I had to with cigarettes.

I have a pipe, but I don't smoke it enough to consider myself a consistent smoker... so, just cigars/cigarettes for me.

I smoke all three...starting to fall hard for pipes, I've gotta admit, so we'll see where that takes me. As for cigs, I smoke them when I'm depressed, or at parties, it's a nice social activity and it's super quick. I probably smoke one or two cigarettes a month. I'm thinking about getting some papers/tubes and rolling my own, if I ever have the need to smoke 'em...try and stick to American Spirit tobacco, so I don't feel so guilty

I have a hard time with cigs....I'll quit then go back, then quit again etc. This has been going on for the last 6 years or so...drives me crazy but I try not to worry about it too much. Cigars are my love and constant companion though

I smoked cigarettes for about five years, and then I quit about six years ago and have not toughed one since. I did get into smoking a pipe for a while but my fiancee didn't like it, so now I just smoke cigars.

I smoke cigs and cigars. I really need to quit the cigs. Does chantix interfere with cigar enjoyment? ....What I mean is I remember hearing (maybe here ) there is a drug that will help you quit, but makes nicotine almost nauseating, therefore cigars less enjoyable. Anyone have any idea if chantix causes this, and if not what does?

I smoked cigarettes for well over thirty years. I hadn't thought about it recently, but this thread made me realize I'm coming up on my two year anniversary of quitting them.

I think quitting the cigs was really one of my (few) smarter moves.

Cigars have always been an enjoyment.

Cigarettes were a pure addiction.

Big difference for me.

I used to smoke cigarettes...mostly those of the International variety (Davidoff, real Dunhills, Spanish Chesterfields) unless I could not get them...then I went with Camel straights...non-filtered. I officially quit cigarettes on March 1st this year. My dad who has smoked cigarettes for the last forty years was told he has lung cancer...now I stick to just cigars and the occasional pipe smoke...
