Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

I picked up this cigar after my B&M guy said it's just as good as an Opus X. He said it's the same wrapper and binder. Even though he's been wrong before, I picked up a few because they look tasty and they are Fuente so you know the quality is there.

Any opinions on this cigar?

I don't think it is the same as an Opus X, but it is one Good smoke. I am going to have to pick up a few more now that I am thinking of how much I enjoyes the last one I smoked. I hope you like them.

I don't know about it being the same as an Opus but I can tell you I have at least nine empty boxes stacked up in the garage. These are a great smoke!!!!

(Oh and if anybody from AF wants to pay me for my comments, PM me I'll take it )

So cool I make air conditioned wind, with subtle hints of aged Stranahans Colorado Whiskey and Murphy's Stout.

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

They are OK, not as great IMO as the masses usually proclaim. Personally I prefer Rocky Patel sungrowns, especially the Selects, taste better and much better price ($2 a stick). If I can't get an RP, i'd still take a Perdomo Reserve sungrown over the AF.

As good as Opus? No way. I don't like Opus that much, but even I think Opus is a good premium that is much better than many others.

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

Funny thing, I just came in from smoking a CB in the garage, from a box I bought in July of '06. It was a very nice smoke - full, round and flavorful.
Had more power than the regular classics (which are my favorites when all is said and done), and it kept me interested all the way. Cheers, Larry.

I've had a couple and really think I like them better than most of the Hemingways. Not sure why. They don't seem to get as much hype as some Fuentes.

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

Like others have said, Fantastic smoke. Not the same blend as an Opus and thank god because I have yet to smoke an Opus I have enjoyed. These were my go to smokes for a long time and I still enjoy these very much but I am just changing the rotation a bit. You can't go wrong with this stick especially if you can get them under $5 a stick.

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

Ok...I might get a lot of s#%& for saying this...but I actually like them better than the Opus X. I've had a few Opera (The plural form of opus is opera in case you were wondering...just a little FYI there ) and I was not all that impressed. I have had many Cuban beli's and it is one of the few Fuentes that I love!

I think he has my exact sentiments..... Let them rest, they do not smoke too well fresh out of the box...in my opinion...
As far as better than an Opus...yes...I do not like the Opus though...

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

First off completely different than Opus X,not saying they're better or worst just a different blend/tobacco

With that said the entire Fuente SG line are some of my favorites.

Especially if you get to have an 858 Sungrown!!!!!!!
As someone else posted I went the opposite. I used to love the RP Sungrowns but once I went to the AF Sungrown line, well Rocky was out the door.

Re: Opinions on AF Cuban Belicoso.

These are a fav of mine, more so than the Opus X. Usually with Opus, I have to let them rest for a long period of time before they are ready for smoking. The Cuban Belicoso are great fresh, better with age. Plus I can grab them up at around $5 - $6 each.
