I am a newbie here. Been smoking for several months about a cigar every other day. Usually smoke at night with a couple cups of coffee. Last night I was smoking a Montecristo Serie V and everything was fine. The draw was perfect tasted good and had an enjoyable experience. Went inside and about 5-10 minutes after I finished my stomach started churning real bad and I threw up a couple of times and then was just fine again. Don't know if it was the cameroon wrapper or just too strong for me. Just wanted anyone's opinion on this. I really enjoyed the smoke and also want to continue having an evening smoke, but hate to have this happen again. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks Brett |

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
Did you have a nicotine buzz prior to losing it? May want to take in some more sugar while smoking something that could be strong for your palette.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
or if you were chewing on the wrapper and got alot of juice down your throat, or even in your mouth and then swallowed it with your coffee.
doing that (swallowing it) is the same as swallowing the juice from a dip

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
If you felt light headed it was a nic buzz. Eat a big meal before you smoke strong sticks and smoke them slowly.
Don't give up. It's like alcohol, puking once won't make you quit drinking will it? |

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
I had a similar experience a few years back with an ERdM Taino and a cup of coffee, didn't vomit but felt like I needed to for an hour. Mine was probably due to an empty stomach, but I'm not sure. It happens, hopefully you don't have this experience again any time soon. Try some simple sugar right away if you feel this way again, it usually helps subside the nausea quickly.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
I made the mistake of smoking a Padron 1926 A. on an empty stomach. Yikes!!! Nicotine buzz here I come. I felt horrible, but didn't throw up. I just slept it off.
Hang in there. |

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
I agree with the others. Try to eat something before smoking a stronger stick, and keep some sugar cubes in the pantry. A lot of people who tour factories and partake in blend tastings (several ciagars at a time) carry sugarcubes with them for this reason.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
One thing I learned after smoking for several years was that I smoked too fast. I still do but have tried to slow it down. I used to be able to kill a robusto in 25 minutes. This caused some ill effects. I also have to make sure to pace myself when I'm smoking by myself. When I'm with others, the talking, etc makes me smoke slower.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
A couple teaspoons of sugar usually settles things down. Many keep a few candy bars nearby in case they start getting the "feeling". Happened long ago with an RP Edge on an empty stomach.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
Been said before....sugar.....I keep a Mtn Dew or a root beer in the fridge at all times. NO fun being sick. Sugar is the cure.

Re: Anyone else have this reaction
Yes, Yes, Yes, I get those from time to time and everytime I get it I blame my self for it because I knew I shouldn't of smoked then (most of the time) I can tell you a few things that would cause me to got that migrain head ache feeling.
When I'm over tired, when I'm constipated, when i'm in a place thats to hot with no air coming in. When I'm hungry or thirsty. These are the times I'v learned that make me get hit with that sick feeling, oh and someting funy/intresting as well, I got that twice smoking the same cigar it was the oliva G and thats not supposed to be a strong one I think, but it hits me for some reason. Feel Good.... |
