How long will you hang in there before you chuck a lousy cigar?

Plugged couple shots with the henry tools then if not fixed chuck it

Mediocre it depends if it is my only stick of the day, if I am herfing I will stick to it, if it is a one timer I will probably chuck it after an inch.

I truly believe the adage that there is no time in this life for a bad cigar.

As I mentioned in another post before I tossed a Partaga Serie P No 2 with only an inch or so off it as it wasn't the right smoke right then.

However all that is easy for me to say as I am fortunate that I have the resources to be able to toss smokes if I don't like them and I recognize that fortune for what it is and try not to take it for granted.

If it sucks don't waste your time on it.

You guys definately have more patience and sticktoitiveness than I do.
I sparked a 5 Miami last week and stomped it after 2 drags. I must have looked like a kid who just had cough syrup.
I was really pissed cause I brought three cigars along to the ball game and knew that I was so polluted from that butt nasty stick that my enjoyment of the other sticks was going to be compromised.

Depending on rg, I will go at least half way. Due to the fact that I have smoked some cigars that were not that great on the first half, and SOMETIMES the flavors don't show up for me until that point.

If it's one I haven't smoked before, then I will usually smoke about 2/3s before chucking it. If it's the second try of one I didn't like the first time, then about halfway before chucking it. When trying a new cigar, I like to set aside a good hour to really just focus on the cigar. If I'm doing house chores or on the golf course, I really want one that I already know I like.

It depends, if the taste is truly nasty then it goes fast. If it is just boring I'll give it time. If its a construction issue I'll try to fix it for a while, and longer if it tastes good but has a bad burn. Also if it is a rarer stick I will give it the benefit of the doubt to the end.

Life's too short to fight an issue. Either it tastes good or not. Example, I hate scotch, but some say it's an aquired taste. Sorry guys, I'm sure if I drank enough gasoline after a time it might taste good, but why fight it. Too many good sticks (to me) and to many other good drinks to force one that isn't working. I may try a second stick just to see if the first was off, but I don't force myself to smoke cigar that I'm not liking.

Funny it just happened to me. I was smoking a JM's and I have smoked many of them before this one. Well I was so mad that it was gone just after the 1/2 way point. I could not draw and it seemed with the harder I tried the bitter it got. So I let it go. How ever you also said something that brings me to another problem. Peppery I like it myself and I know a Cigar that I would say you might not want to try if you don't like pepper in a Cigar RP Olde World Reserve is a great smoke and I love the first 1/3 or so with all the pepper taste. Then the rest of the cigar is just wonderful. ..

Coming from a man who's house is a humidor!

There is a direct correlation to number of sticks on hand and time spent with the cigar. If a guys has 15 cigars I believe he is more will to work with the cigar. If he's a guy who has hundreds he can pitch it after one puff and grab another.

I don't wait long that's for sure. If it tastes like a dud, or draws like a wind tunnel, I generally toss it pretty soon after an inch is gone.
