I just gave up on an Oliva Serie G double robusto about an hour ago after fighting a tunneling issue for 10 mins.

So I'm gonna go with 10 mins on burning/drawing issues, but if it's a flavor profile I'm struggling against, I'll give it at least half way to develope.

There is a direct correlation to number of sticks on hand and time spent with the cigar. If a guys has 15 cigars I believe he is more will to work with the cigar. If he's a guy who has hundreds he can pitch it after one puff and grab another.

Although I understand your sentiment, I'd still pitch it. In the end that would amount to smoking for smokings sake. In my case I like the flavors and the relaxing times. A bad tasting cigar would just kill the mood and reason for smoking.

Others have mentioned the draw. I have ruined a few sticks by forcing the draw with the result producing a hot bitter stick. Unless I can come up with a collapsable poker stick, they get pitched almost quicker.

Save the scotch and just drink one for me. I'll hit the bourbon for you. I had what was supposed to be a very excellant scotch at a funeral a few weeks ago. While it wasn't near as bad as some others I've had, I can't say that it was enjoyable either. I am the same way with tequela. I recently tried Tarantuala, and while the best tequela I've ever had (unique flavors) I would not drink it very often.

I try to give every cigar a chance. I do not have much in the humi so I make sure I give it a chance. If its not improving or still just sucks after the first 1/3 im rolling it down my driveway.

Usually after 10 - 15 minutes....But its not often I have a lousy cigar so in the last 40 or so cigars I chucked 1 the other day.

Usually I will chuck it if its really bitter and has that ammonia taste and if it is plugged beyond belief.

Al, you might want to try sipping the scotch from my work boot. Helps if you leave the sock in there, too. The leather and sweat helps buffer and refine the delicate flavors.
Might I also suggest that you pair that with a Miami 8&11? The 8&11 imparts a luxurious sphincter/brush fire accent that's impossible to define, yet scintillating to the senses. You simply must experience it for yourself!!!

On taste I've been known to toss them after the first draw. For tight draws I'll re-snip, roll it, poke it - toss it if it doesn't work out. Been smoking to long to worry about it - just move on to the next one.
