bad habanos in st. kitts

I went to St. Kitts in the West Indies last week to get married!!!
First , we tried the Marriott hotel cigar bar, knowing we would get robbed blind.........$22 for a RASS!, but there was no other place around for habanos. It was like trying to draw on a wet towel......no taste, bad draw, etc.
Next, we walked across to the St. Kitt's resort gift shop that had a sign up for cuban cigars..............the case had various cohiba's, montecristos and RyJ's.........all with the same exact box codes - all 3 brands, every box. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? So i asked the price on the sticks, and was told $12 bucks. I asked which one, to be told "oh, anything in there"
Double hmmmmmmmmmmmm? esplendidos for $12 bucks? - I had to look. The cap looked like a 3rd grader's paper mache project. Didn't bother investigating further.
Man, what a bust. Glad I brought a bunch of goodies to celebrate the occasion.

Congrats on the wedding!! I have found through many mistakes myself that the only legit place to buy anywhere in the carribean is an LCDH store. The most horrible fakes I've seen were in Mo Bay,Jamaica. They had fauxiba robustos for $8 each or 2 for 12. The rings were so loose that when you picked the smokes up the rings just slid right off the foot and they were so underfilled they literally 'squished' between your fingers.

Congrats on the marriage!

I was there for a Convention 2 or 3 years ago and the Marriot is just spectacular and the room rates were great too!

I found several shops on the Island as you say and mostly fakes, there was one by the Tourism office where I think they were real but they were brittle and had worked over by the bugs!
