Hi guys.
Im new to this cigar forum and im from England. The land of overpriced Cigars where a single monticiristo no 4 will cost you £9($1 .My question is about the humidor jar that you can now buy.Has anyone ever used one and are they sutible for storing cigars for long periods. They come with humidifiers on the bottom of the lid for some reason. |

Smoke on the Water...

Re: humidor jar
i have a DIY version of the jars you can buy, and i am keeping some of my cigasr in it. Seems to work. But for long time periods i do not know...
The humidifier is on the bottom of the lid to maximize the storage space for the cigars... I will however get some of the jars and review them on my blog. Welcome to the Jungle... cheers,

Re: humidor jar
I'd prefer the wooden humidor... but it is higher maintenance... but you'll learn more using it...
cheers,

Re: humidor jar
Personally, I wouldn't get one for long term storage. Go with a humidor. Go to the WTB forum, and post something there. I'm sure you'l be able to pick something up. Everyone is always upgrading, and if you stick around long enough, you will too

Re: humidor jar
Im still ony a beginner.I was thinking of storing 10 cigars in it for 3-4 months.Would that time frame be ok or would they loose there flavour and quality.

Re: humidor jar
Is this similar to what you're talking about:
![]() This small storage container can hold about 20 cigars. Humi devices (use either/or) and cedar added separately. ![]() This kept the humidity well for me and should work fine for what you want to do. |

Re: humidor jar
I have 2 of these. I store some of my everyday stuff in 2 and the other has some yard gars in it. They seem to be self maintained. They dont need much care to keep at 68/70. I keep the stuff I am ageing and my "other" cigars in my fridge-a-door. I just feel they are better protected in there and not cramed into a jar. ![]()

Re: humidor jar
A setup like that would probably be all right if you smoke your sticks shortly after you buy them. For the time period you are talking about they should be fine. If you keep your cigars for longer periods before smoking or you plan to age them, I would buy a humidor.

If the cigars are kept at the right humidity (between 60% and 70%...I prefer 65%) they will last for a VERY long time. Most cigars, like a fine scotch or wine, will improve with age. ![]() |

Re: humidor jar
I use one as a traveldor. Works good and much easier to maintain than a wood humi. I have a Drymistat and an adjustable hygro.
