Vegas Herf Recap

Had a great weekend in Vegas. Met some great BOTL's, smoked with friends and had a great time.

Here's my run down and mini Cigar reviews

Fri May 23rd
Drove to Vegas from the OC. Left at 1pm to beat traffic and it still took 2 effin hours to get to victorville. RAIN, trucks and stupid people held us up. Made great time after that and my first smoke of the weekend was a Litto Gomez Small Batch #2. Great flavor, burn etc... Awesome Cigar 2nd favorite of the weekend. I got a fiver from smokeyscotch and I am glad that I have 4 more as these are a TREAT!
It was raining as we pulled into Vegas. Stopped in at a great shop called Cigar Box and bought a LFD Factory Press I I had always wanted one of these and Sam (Guitarman-S.T-) & Andrew (ScottishSmoker) had told me about them as they are the biggest La Flor Domincana dealer in Vegas. I was amazed at the amount of LFD stuff they had. The we checked in at our Hotel the Fitzgeralds in the Downtown District.
The wife and I made our way around Fremont street. Great place to smoke and drink. Smoked a Padron 64th Very Sweet, great amounts of Smoke excellent flavor.

Sat May 24th
Went to Sam's shop and had a mini Herf before the Herf. Hemingway's had a full house as a bunch of the shop locals and us smoked & laugh away the mid day. I bought a Partagas Black (Gotta support the local B&M) It is a great cheaper smoke as I love that Black Maduro, sweet wrapper. Only bad part was it was a little plugged but that means you just have to suck it harder (Thats what she says)

Sam who is the very funny Italian guy? He was hilarious!

Night time we went to another boards Herf and had a great time. I started the night with a Padron 26th #9 as I wanted to compare it to the 80th that I had planned to smoke later that night with Sam. Very smooth, creamy smoke with Unbelievable flavor! No wonder why it was #1 on CA ratings this year. Sam and Andrew showed up later with Mike (Beagle Boy) and we had a great time until it started to rain and we were on the patio of the Road Runner Saloon. Sam and myself each fired up a Padron 80th to see what all the hype was about these. I had heard that it was pretty much the 26th flavor and that it was overpriced & overrated. I beg to differ. I think the Flavor proflile was similar but distinct enough to tell the difference. The Quality was hands down the best. Smoking right after the 26th I could tell the quality was a step up and it held its burn even in the down pour of rain we were in. It was my Best Cigar of the Weekend!

Me and the Wife (She is smoking a LFD Factory Press II)

Sun May 25th

Now it was time for the Official CS Vegas Herf! smaller amount of people but a great day.

Roll call for the day
1-Jovenhut ( bruce)
2-GuitarmanS.T ( Sam)
3-ScottishSmoker ( Andrew)
4-Beagle Boy aka Biegs (Mike)
5-Livewire ( Coy)
6-Andy (I am not sure what his screen name is)

Sam starts the festivities out with a pitcher of

"Grape Drink"

Andrew said he was the kid that was drinking the Sunny D

We sat around for hours and smoked away the day. I started with a AF Hemingway Maduro Masterpiece 9.00 x 52 the big daddy itself! Awesome flavor, rich, dark chocolate over tones. Smoked that thing for 2 hours. Next was a Rocky Patel Double Maduro. I just got a 10 pack off Joe Cigars. I wanted to try these as they look yummy in all the ad's. Great Maduro flavor and very typical RP. Taste like what you think an Oscuro RP 90 would taste like. It was very 1 dimensional but it kept that flavor threw the whole stick. I will definately put these in the regualr rotation. Sam made us some expresso and Andy kep spilling Sam's Fried rice on the ground as we talked, laughed and smoked away. Then it happened....

Mike pulls out a Don Arturo Destino al Siglo "13" or known as the AF 13
http://www.vitolas.net/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=89

We marvel at it. In major Awe Mike passes it around and OMG if this is not the best thing I have ever smoked! I cannot describe it but its like a high quality, aged mixture of hemingways & Don Carlos wrapped in a Sungrown Wrapper. OMG again. He passed it around again and cemented the fact that its the King of Fuente's. The burn prefect! Mike nubbed that thing and it must of lasted easily 2 1/2 hours. It was great talking to ScottishSmoker ( Andrew) ashis knowledge of Cigars is immense and it was great to learn so much about the leaf and the business of the leaf.
The day ended and we said our goodbyes.

Mon May 26th
We drove home and I lit up a LFD Limitado II Out of the shoot this thing throws a spice bomb and tingles my lips. Very full flavored and strong. It mellows out after an inch and turns into a great LFD Ligero fest. Its early (10am) and I am fight back the sickness but the flavor keeps calling to me so I push forward and enjoy this immense stick.

All in All it was a great weekend of Cigars, Fun and friendships.

Except for this crap on the way home!

Hopefully Sam & Andrew will chime in with some more details

I am out

Re: Vegas Herf Recap

Like Bruce said, it was an absolute blast...and I am glad that I tagged along to the other herf...Sam needed to have grape drink...I do not fully understand why yet...as far as the smokes...wow....woooowww! I am not the biggest AF fan...but that AF 13 was an amazing cigar...full of coffee flavors that I have never found coming across my palette in that manner before. When I snorked it...that is all you could taste...an incredibly DARK RICH coffee...If I had the extra cash...I would definitely pick up a couple... The 1996 Partagas Presidente was alsoon enjoyable stick that Sam brought to share...interestingly earthy notes that I have not found in any NC stick....I torched a Graycliff Double Espresso that I took off of Bruce in his Premium pass...I was shocked how hot cocoa that stick came across...and the stick burned for the better part of 90 minutes! I thought it was going to be done in like 45...WRONG...the flavor was the whole way through! Bruce also gave me a pair of Nubs to try...I think they may be tomorrows project...

All in all...the weekend was a great weekend with a lot of great people and even greater cigars!

Re: Vegas Herf Recap

Oh man, what a awesome weekend!
thank you SO much for that 80th' easily the best padron i've had, still my experience with them hasnt been wide, but its either hit or miss. and this thing was TRULY a BULLSEYE!

Perfect construction, the beginning amazed me with so little smoke that started, Wonderful flavor, burned threw even and tasted like a very SMOOTH maduro anni

The hemingway herf was a blast! easily one of the best i have been apart of. The grape drink espresso... and once again, another amazing stick from my brotha bruce, an Anejo-

If any one gets a chance to herf with Jovenhut, Hit him up on it, Always a great time, not counting this weekend i have herfed with him in vegas once before and once in cali on easter afternoon. Him and his wife are both Brutal as hell B/S-OTL's

I got a few pic's i can toss on, and a beautiful video of that 1996 Partagas Salamone. I was disappointed with it though, might have went beyond its prime... nothing special at all, but the AR 13 was AWESOME AS ALL HELL!
thanks again BIEGS!

( The brit andy is Dooge on here, barely gets on though... Who was the italian you spoke of )

... NC eh? try the isle
A good smoke... just a disappointment to me personally, held onto it for to long, had a very hard dry taste, nothing that compared to the Punch 00' royal selection number... 11 i believe ? that i had for breakfast that morning after my corn POPS!

Hey guys, just got home a few hour ago - it was great to be able to get together with everyone out there! I'm glad that I could find a stick to share that everyone enjoyed

I am curious, how many of those little sugar packets did you have to use to make the kool-aid?
