CI Brown Bag Sampler

This is the description that they give on CI...

For 20 bucks, go ahead and throw a Brown Bag Sampler on your order!

We sample a lot of cigars around here (that’s called Research & Development you see) and as a result we end up with tons of open boxes in odd quantities. In fact, on a recent stroll through the humidor I was struck at the number of such boxes. They’re in perfect condition but I can’t sell them as is with opened packaging. So let’s do a little experiment: we’ll pack up a ton of these loose cigars – all solid premium blends – into a bunch of CI Brown Bag Samplers, each chock full o’ ten different handmade, long-filler brands. Selection always varies, but you can expect some really nice cigars in there, including a variety of blends and brand names with no junky reject crapola. It’s like a box of chocolates!

*limit of one per customer, please

They Promise "No junky reject crapola" and expect some really nice cigars in there. WRONG I got mine in today and the nicest stick in there is a 5 Vegas Gold and it is so smashed on the head that it's probably unsmokable. there are a few other cigars in the bunch, probably 5 of the 10, that are extremely damaged as well. I would not suggest this to anyone, but what can you expect for 20 bucks. I guess you always get what you pay for. Lesson learned: if it sounds too good to be true, It is.I'm done with my rant now

Re: CI Brown Bag Sampler

Can you post a full list of what they sent you? I remember ordering one of these a long time ago but don't recall what they sent me.

Re: CI Brown Bag Sampler

Thank you for posting this. I have toyed with the idea of ordering one of these in the past, but the unknown scares me in this particular case...it just seems to easy for them to sell their dog rockets or damaged smokes this way.

When i ordered one it wasnt nearly as bad as you got!
I got two gurkhas, a 5 vegas classic, cuba libre, and a few others (decent not great) I wouldnt recommend buying them regularly, but for me it was a fun experiment.

Thanks for the post travclem! I was really considering purchasing one of these brown bags, but the "unknown" scared me! At least you helped my decision making a bit and I will stay away from these!

If they were damaged in transit, they should replace them.

Re: CI Brown Bag Sampler

OK got the list sooner than I thought.

Heres what I recieved:

-Astral churchill (damaged)
-CT Yankee (damaged)
-5 Vegas Gold (damaged)
-5 Vegas Classic (severely damaged)
-El Mejor
-Cuba Libre
-RP Fumas
-Indian Tabac natural robusto
-Fire Lonsdale
-Cusano 18 double connecticut

Here's what they picture on their website:

-Aristoff Figurado
-Astral
-Oliveros
-Double happiness
-Ct yankee
-La Trdicion Cabnet Reserve
-Torano 1916
-Gurkha Nepalese Warrior
-Camancho
-5 Vegas Classic

Some of the things that they sent me are actually pictured on the site but I just love the way they forgot the Torano, Camancho, and all of the good stuff. They were sure not to forget to throw in some dog rockets though. Like said above live and learn.

Re: CI Brown Bag Sampler

Frankly, I don't like 5 Vegas but I only see one possible "dog rocket", imo. If they were not damaged that is a pretty good deal. They should still replace the damaged sticks.

It's a brown bag crapshoot. 10 sticks for $20. Not sure what you expected.
As for the damage, that's a totally different story. Contact their Customer Service. They will make things right.

Re: CI Brown Bag Sampler

I realize that it is a game of chance and they are only $2 a stick but I guess I just expected too much. They only reason I posted this is to warn others that they do not include Premium sticks in this deal like they say on the site, and let them know what I got. If they like these sticks, more power to them.

Not tryin to offend or get anyone ryled up... Just sharin a little info.
