I'm getting a feel for how long you guys let your sticks sit prior to smokeing them. I would think that you try one or two prior to buying 4-5 boxs and storing them for 8 years. I let them sit for 2-3 weeks prior to touching them so what about you? Keep in mind my collection is a small, about 300 stick.

Re: How long do you age?
Mike - It depends a lot on the cigar. Think of it like wine. The bigger heavier ones could use more age, some of the lighter smokes like Ashton don't need as long.
I have some 10 month old Ashton Cabinets that are smoking nicely, I also have some Opus X that are 3 years old and are still not ready IMHO. I am convinced that all cigars get better with some age, and once you get used to aged sticks everything else tastes like lawn clippings. My suggestion would be to build up your collection, and over time you will have a nioce stock of cigars at different stages of development. Larry. |

I usally smoke one right away if ive never tried it. If its somthing ive tried and like ill let it sit until im ready to have one, a week, month, 3 months! I havent been in the game long enough to age any longer than that.

Re: How long do you age?
I usually rest the smokes that I received via mail for at least a month so they can recover from their journey. I'll smoke the ones from the local B&M right away if they aren't too moist. I'll try another stick from the box every 3 to 6 months after that to see how they develop. My

Re: How long do you age?
I have three cigars that I try to keep for a year before smoking; Magic Mountains, Gran Habanos, and Fire Maduros. Other than that, I usually let them sleep for a month before smoking just to make sure that they are acclimated to my cooler and humidors.

Re: How long do you age?
Are you talking NC's or Habanos? That greatly influences how long I'll store my smokes. Also, some smokes just don't benefit as much as others from age (at least in my experience) which will also impacts my decision.
