If your analog Hygrometer is stuck in one place, it usually means that the little spring has broken loose from its catch and become un-tensioned. The cheap chinese ones that come with your humi usually have only a drop of glue to hold the spring in place. I pried my Hygrometer open, slid the end of the spring back into the catch where it had been glued, and soldered it. It Took five minutes to do, and now works fine.

The humidor I just purchased came with an analog hygrometer and I know for a fact it wasn't working since the Digital one I purchased said so..I'm thinking these analog ones are hit or miss.

Good advice to a BOTL! Don't mess with the analog hydrometer, they are mostly worthless. Get a digital Hydro and invest in the beads to control the humidy properly.

You guys are all right and I agree with you.
Just chuckling as I trip over myself.
He has a 15 ct. humi.
Throw in beads.
Throw in a digital hygro.
Considering that a 15 ct. means 15 PCs, cut and sliced, shoved in every possible opening, then add the beads, and the hygro, might as well remove the lid so all can stack up and fit.

Exactly. Buy a Puck and forget about the rest of this for a 15-ct.

I don't know, this could be a good thing. Get yourself some beads, and keep the hygro you have. Never adjust anything, and BOOM, you've got a worry-free 70% humidor.

I have to agree. If price is the prime motivation, just get the beads. They will self regulate the humidity anyway regardless of the Hygrometer.

BTW: If you go over 70% RH you will normally get mold growth and you definately don't want to have to deal with that. (I dealt with mold on start-up of my humi and it SU#$!)

If you want to PM me with an address, I have a spare Analog Hygro that I can send you. I just use it to play around with now that I have a digital unit. It seems to be pretty close to the digital in my humi.

Regardless, you should use the previously mentioned salt test to set your hygrometer. This should be done regularly because the analogs are notoriously inaccurate and get worse over time.

Just my YMMV

Because the fine folks here at CS educated me on the salt test, I will pass down to you, what they have bestowed upon me. Please read this thread... Very easy and well explained. Good luck!
