Re: Any suggestions on a 300-ct humidor?

Cooler is the route to go my friend, especially if you are aging. Put all the boxes you want to age on the borrom, and the ones you want to smoke on top of em. Get some beads and call it a day.

Very low maintenance and great for aging

Re: Any suggestions on a 300-ct humidor?

Assuming you opt for a humidor, I use this one for singles, stuff I'm getting ready to smoke, and general odds and ends. I run an Oasis XL in it.

Tampa Humidor

It seals well, maintains constant humidity, and is a nice looking unit. You can get a few boxes in it as well if the need arises.

I did run a bead of silicone around the front mounted analog hygrometer when I first got it, as the factory seal was leaking humidity. I've had it a couple years now and wouldn't hestitate to buy it again.

Re: Any suggestions on a 300-ct humidor?

I must echo the comments you've already received.

Not long ago I was in the market for my first humi and wound up purchasing a 300 ct Treasure Dome from CheapHumidors.com. Now don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and does a great job. However....

Less than a month later I'm picking up a VinoTemp on sale at Target as I see myself outgrowing the 300 pretty quickly.

A cooler is obviously a cheaper setup so it comes down to priorities - Vino looks great, cooler does a great job but is more utilitarian - Priorities and preferences.

I live in Florida so I opted for the Vino as keeping a consistent sub 70F temp is easier said than done. From what I've read on these boards if you have a basement then the cooler will suit you fine from a temp perspective.

Peace

Re: Any suggestions on a 300-ct humidor?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm probably not going to go the cooler route. I understand they're cheap and functional, but my wife doesn't want a cooler lying around the house (no basement, and the garage is way too hot in the summer) filled with cigars. She wants something more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm not sure what a vinotemp is, to be honest. I've seen the term, so I'm sure there are a couple threads on this subject.

I like the look of that foot locker....

Thanks, MarkinCA.

I perused some CS threads on this subject. It appears most everyone puts in cedar shelves and a fan?

According to the Target site, there is a temperature control on the vinotemp, the highest setting is 66 degrees? is this the optimal temp for storing cigars, as well as wine? (I thought 70 degrees was optimal)

Does any special modification need to be made to turn a vinotemp into a humidor -- other than beads? You just plug it in and you're ready to go?

Re: Any suggestions on a 300-ct humidor?

I've got the Ravello on the way, and I think it's a good humidor for the price, but if you have the money, the space and the will, go for a Vinotemp...I've heard and seen marvelous things of those...
