There was just a postal increase so maybe it used to be. I seem to remember folks saying it was. Maybe it still is for clickers I dunno as I'm a B&M shipper.

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

I think this year all Secret Santa/Super Secret Santa packages should be required to use a DC number.

If you want the package starting point to be secretive all you have to do is go to a nearby town and ship from there.

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

I use PP Multi-Order Shipping. $4.75 for Priority Shipping with DC#. The other advantage of using PP is that you can also ship First Class with a DC#.(I dont think the ClickNShip offers First Class. $0.18 extra for a DC# when shipping First Class. If you are shipping to someone in the same Postal zone, packages usually arrive in one day. But FC is only up to 13oz's, good for MAW's but kind of useless for most bombs!

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

Let us not forget that every little penny spent at your post office goes to pay the salary of those dedicated postal workers(myself included) who selfessly deliver your mail in every type of weather. We do not rest until the mail is delivered...and if that does not appeal to your patriotic sense let me tell you a story.

I mailed a post card to my boss, the postmaster from Mexico last October and she got it in January. I cannot speak for every post office in America, but I think we have a pretty good postal service in the USA.

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

As others have already stated, the DC # is NOT a tracking number, which many people get confused. I think in most cases, it's not worth much. However, you never know when it might come in handy. Although I've only had one time in which it helped, it was very useful! I sent a package to someone and after about four days they complained about not receiving it. I checked the DC # and it showed that it was in fact delivered and notified the other person of this. In turn, he contacted the P.O. and found out that it was delivered to his neighbor instead. Long story short, he got his cigars and was happy. The DC # helpedin this instance because it showed proof of delivery; therefore the other party knew for a fact that they were sent and the post office knew as well and were probably more inclined to try and help locate the package (which they did).
