DC #'s.....Why?

Does anyone else feel like they waste there money on DC #'s? I now use click & Ship so i don't pay for them anymore, but it always seems the tracking info on www.usps.com is useless.

or is it just me?

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

I don't use them unless it's a MAW where it's expected. If they are cheapie smokes, I'm willing to risk having to send them out again. If they are pricey smokes, I'm getting insurance or using UPS. I do find DC to be fairly useless but it would be helpful in a dispute I guess.

A DC# stands for Delivery Confirmation, meaning the only thing it provides is confirmation the package was delivered. It is not a tracking number.

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

I recently got smokes without a DC number and got confused which trade they were from.

So they can help with that issue.

Re: DC #'s.....Why?

Unless you TELL them to scan it at the post office so they have a record of them having it I think it's worthless.

I know a guy who used click and ship here at the office. The mailman picks up the box and now it's lost. The post office is going to refund his money ONLY because he happened to remember that it was a different carrier on duty that day (that's how they know he's telling the truth). The post office said that the DC# does not help unless you ASK them to scan it in at the time of pickup. It's the only way to cover your @ss that they have the box.

I know that....i just think it is useless. When the post office offers tracking of this number on the site, and in some cases you will recieve the package, then get confirmation it was sent.

Just another example of the "man" getting theirs.

I think they add a bit of fun when doing a bombing run. It's also provides a confirmation that a package has been shipped for trades and passes.

Just a note. I think insurance from either UPS or USPS would be useless since I dont think either allow you to ship cigars.. Not sure how you would file a claim against a company b/c of damage done while shipping something you weren't supposed to be able to ship in the first place.

It's FREE if you print your label online. Free, as in $0.00, as in nada.

You seem to get stuck on things. Yes, you can look at the site and see where your package has been, but it isn't real time such as UPS's tracking. Two different products.
