Re: very pretty ... CAO Sopranos

I bought one of each of the two smaller sizes which are resting now in my humi. My B&M got them in two hours before I came in and he said I am the first to have them. Can't wait to smoke 'em!

They sure are pretty to look at too...

As I posted in another thread, the cost is being driven I am sure by the licensing fee that is being paid to HBO. The hope for those who like the cigar (and I did think it was a decent smoke) will be for CAO to continue making the cigar with the same blend, but with a different packaging, at a more appropriate price As I stated in my limited review, the most prominent flavor I got was one of black cherry, almost a creamy black cherry, did you notice any of this?

If HBO was smart enough they would have some clause in the contract to where that blend could not be used in anything but the sopranos sticks. Anyplace to get these online, No one local has them.

It had a prominent taste that I can definitely see described as black cherry, but at the time, toffee was what I thought of. I'll have another soon and see if the black cherry jumps out at me now that it's in my head. It wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Wow - that Mata Fina wrapper looks great! I think that's why I like the CAO Brazilian line so much. Thanks for the review Scott. Now I'm going to have to buy a couple to try.

Ah the bane of NC's, the wrapper. I don't like construction paper gauge wrappers. That's all the bold nc boys seem to come up with. Extra course sandpaper when we want really fine.

Re: very pretty ... CAO Sopranos

I just picked up 2 each of the Associate and Soldier. Pretty pricey... $10.50 for the Associate and $12.50 for the Soldier. I hope they're as good as they look because I'm a big CAO fan.

Re: very pretty ... CAO Sopranos

Is anyone really interested in trying this cigar because its got the Soprano name on it? Wouldn't fans of CAO cigars want to try it just because they want to try a new line? The connection between the fabulous HBO series and these cigars is a fictitious imagining from marketing people. Why would CAO choose to "sell out" and in my mind, cheapen their name with a cheesey marketing gimic for what's otherwise most likely a perfectly good cigar that could stand on its own merits?

To make a joke out of something I said, I realize that CAO would choose to sell out in order to sell out. It's all about selling cigars and maybe this will get their cigars more attention and buzz...

Anybody buy these on the web? I looked around the first evening I saw the photos posted here, couldn't find them.

Or you could be like me and attribute the CAO line getting you into cigars and want to try one of each of the ones they sell

That is exactly what I am doing. I have never seen one episode of the Sopranos.
