Bad cigar descriptions (not to be confused with descriptions of bad cigars)

I HATE to hear people say something like "towards the end its not a bad cigar." Its a bit like describing hell as not so bad once you get used to the burning sensation. And a guy always gives that description as he is handing it to you.

I purposely don't do many reviews because I suck at describing flavors in a cigar. I know what I like but not how to describe it.

Interesting analogy...

Re: Bad cigar descriptions (not to be confused with descriptions of bad cigars)

What drive me crazy are non-descript descriptions:

"Slight smokey tobacco flavor"

"Some spice and a touch of cream"

"Hints of cream with a kiss of spice"

Also the over analyzer with mutant taste buds:

"The first third was a chewy earthy texture with tones of leather, peat moss, and toasted cork. Next the cigar was like a buttered rye with coco sprinkled peanut butter. The cigar finished with strong notes of cedar, much like a cedar plank used to smoke and Alaskan King Salmon that was dressed with a mango chutney. Overall I'd say this cigar was consistient and young, it should age nicely and could possibly, if the conditions are correct, become an instant classic with an old world habanos profile."

Re: Bad cigar descriptions (not to be confused with descriptions of bad cigars)

I also am weary of the expert:

"Even though I have only been a forum member for three months, I have been smoking for 26 weeks at this point. Now this particular NC is well packaged and marketed correctly to a specific target audience but my palet has been refined to a point where I can only smoke gerbils. I find that if I am going to invest the required 3 to 6 months to rest and lay a cigar down for aging only a cab of ISOM's will benefit from from a long nap. I can't stand wet freshies OTT, for me it's aged habanos (preferably RE or LE baby) or death."

Haha thats hilarious. I remember reading a review like this for one of the cigars I was interested in trying.

I finally got the cigar, and lit it up and was like what the hell. This doesn't taste anything like a dennys breakfast!

Re: Bad cigar descriptions (not to be confused with descriptions of bad cigars)

What about the "cool guy" who knows all about your amazing discovery and expresses with icons?

You: "Hey that brand-spanking-new release from Rocky, the 2000 Signature MMMM Madurox4. You know the one with the maduro; filler, binder, wrapper and band. Anyway, I just was at the pre-release world premiere unveiling for the very first time where R-dog Patel was handing them out personally and I got the first one and lit it up right there on the spot. It was straight up real-deal maddie to the bone!"

Him: " You know it! Just wait until you get one with some agejust my but for real. At first I was all given what Rocky has been but for real I can't wait to get started on my 3rd box.

You guys got too much hate going on here. "I hate this' "I hate that" Lighten up. Instead of gripping about how people do these things, tell us how you want it done so you will be satisfied with what we have to say.

I think everyone here is pretty lightened up. This is more of a humorous thread than to be taken seriously. Although there are serious points made, they are done so both sarcastically and humourously in this thread.
Although I have been known to make mistakes...
From time to time.
