Cigar side effect?

Sorry to get snappy, but it really pisses me off when someone posts something completely false on a message board, especially one full of knowledgeable and trusting people where it's likely to be accepted as fact at face value.

Some brands do not contain live and active cultures, but it is pretty easy to find ones that do and also have live L. acidophilus bacteria.

I have also experienced first hand, that the bacteria in my yogurt are alive, as I've used a small amount of commercial yogert as a "starter culture" to make my own yogurt.

"To make their products last longer on store shelves, manufacturers may
heat-treat their yogurts after fermentation. While this doesn't affect the
calcium content of the yogurt, it does kill the live cultures, the very
ingredient many people expect in a yogurt.

If the manufacturer heat-treats the yogurt after fermentation, the label
must say "heat-treated after culturing." If the yogurt contains living
bacteria, the label may say "active yogurt cultures," "living yogurt
cultures," or "contains active cultures."

Don't be confused by a label that says "made with active cultures." All
yogurts are made this way, but only the brands that are not heat-treated
after fermentation retain their living cultures.

Freshly made yogurt with live cultures contains about 1 billion bacteria per
gram, according to All About Yogurt, by William Helferich and Dennis
Westhoff (Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1980). As it sits on the shelf, however, the
yogurt's S. thermophilus eventually die off from the acidic environment.
Refrigerated yogurt, even one to two weeks after fermentation, will probably still have about 1 million bacteria per gram."

What you linked is basically an add from The National Yogurt Foundation. Above it states that some cultures will be active (in the millions down from billions) after a week or two. My guess is if the yogurt factory is in your town and you get it with in a few days that you are in good shape, for the rest of us at the local supermarket good luck.

If I've just eaten, either a bowl in the pipe or a cigar will get me also, so I say it's as much the cigar as anything else.

Back when I smoked cigarettes a cig and a cup of coffee was sure to get things moving for me and seems to hold true with cigars as well. My best guess would be that some thing you ate put you in the shape you were in and the nic from a strong cigar got things moving for ya.[/SIZE]

nicotine just like caffeine gets most people moving. It's just that the illusion had a lot more vitamin N than your cigarettes.

Haha, cool! everytime I have trouble "going" I'd eat frosted mini wheats (cereal) for the whole day. My body would be spring cleaning in the morning.
