Cigar side effect?

Last night, while enjoying the cool temperatures out here, relatively speaking, I decided to step outside and light up an Illusione 68. Wow! What a kick in the mouf, a very enjoyable kick, but a kick nonetheless.

About half way through the short stick, I feel everything in my lower intestine shift about two inches south and I realize I’m instantaneously in trouble. I would say I was prairie dogging, but the prairie dog itself would have had to have been mixed with liquid and thrown in a blender for precisely seventeen seconds on the “pulverize” setting to make the analogy accurate.

The walk to the porcelain trailer was awkward to say the least, but I made it in time with no damage to my pants which would have undoubtedly served only to act as a colander. Let me back up for a minute and put out there that I have not had a normal movement in the last three months. This desert food makes every trip to the porcelain the equivalent trying to shoot mashed potatoes out of a roman candle. This trip, however, completely cleaned me out, so much so that I’m pretty sure I saw that quarter I accidentally swallowed when I was nine.

I’ve been smoking cigarettes for almost twenty years and have never, to my knowledge, been affected in that way simply from lighting up. I’ve smoked on a number of occasions to take my mind off of the impending doom, but never had I had a cigarette cause me to go, and go immediately at that. I have not changed my eating habits, and no other cigar has had this effect on me.

Could it have been the cigar? I’m scared to conduct a follow-up study. I wasn’t even able to finish 68 that started the whole episode.

Wow, thanks for sharing . I have never had that reaction to cigars myself.
The only side effect I have is having less money.

When I used to smoke Maduros, I'd have to take a shit usually half way through. Not anymore, but it was strange at that time for sure.

If you have been hurting for 3 months I would blame it on the chow not the smoke. Even if it was the smoke, blame it on the food. You will miss a good cigar alot more then anything they serve over here. I recommend eating lots of yogurt!!! LOTS of yogurt. It will build up good bacteria in your digestive system and mellow you out. You might want to rethink your investment strategy with the quarters also.

Peace

Re: Cigar side effect?

I've had this experience on occasion too. One memorable time was after a bowl of cioppino at a restaurant. Another time after 2 strong espressos.
I try to stay fairly regular and empty by eating prunes, but it doesn't always work.

Thanks for telling of this uncomfortable incident, I would bet that most can relate. Larry.

YES eats LOTS of yogurt, yogurt has the same bacteria as the intestines are supposed to have. It will even out your system. And in the future...smoke near a shitter????

I cannot say I've been hurting, just not regular. At least now I can start with a clean slate, so to speak.

I seriously doubt a cigar could affect your digestive system that fast.
More than likely, you had something "building" up for a while and you just happened to be smoking a strong cigar when things needed to get out.

About the only effect I've had from overly strong cigars are massive nicotine rush and/or acute attack of my acid reflux. The former makes me a bit light headed and the latter requires me to pop a Zantac + Tums.

Re: Cigar side effect?

This has been menioned many times. I would say it is due to the fact that you are actually setting for the extended period of time in a relaxed state. Yoga does the same thing by requiring you to fully relax yourself. Also may be do to the deeper breathing required to get smoke out of the cigar.

Just my thought.....

I have been looking into yogurt and the living bacteria that is added. Since the yogurt is pasteurized and the cultures are added after this the bacteria has nothing to eat so they die. Yes, some yogurts have living cultures added but they are dead when you eat it, this avoids law suites on their end.

If you want to add cultures back into your stomach you need to buy acidolphulus supplements. I have had great results with acidolphulus and slippery elm for repairing intestines and stomach problems.
