I guess you like shoving "old men" down slopes. Congrats Tom, hold on to those memories. They're the ones to keep.

Re: My Dad's Birthday

Thats an awesome story. One of the things I love doing is taking my dad out on the golf course and bringing him a cigar. Makes you realize what is important in life. Truly memories to hold on to. Thanks for sharing.

I can't really add anything to what Anita has so succintly said.
Tom, You have shared something with your Dad (and with us!) that is truly special. I know that memory will last forever.

what she said.
i was going to share with my dad a monte #3, but then he had his big stroke and never really recovered to the point where he could do anything. maybe that's why i'm partial to montes? who knows.

must've been a great time, and you will remember it forever.

WTG Tom! I've had one of those 898's from '98 and I couldn't think of a better smoke to have turned him!

Its so great that your Dad had a wonderful time. Nice cigar selection for both of you Tom. Nothing like getting him hooked using Cubans.

Re: My Dad's Birthday

Thanks for all the wonderful comments, that's why I wanted to share, and why I love this community.

MY Dad lost one of his kidneys to cancer 2 years ago, and has had some other issues...I cherish every moment he is with us, and hope there will be many more moments and birthdays. He is in sales now after years of being in retail management, and loves the lack of responsibility and just being able to sell. He has been in the Top 5 salepeople for the Men's Warehouse nationwide for the last several years, so he is at the top of his game. He has always been a work-aholic, but it keeps him young in his own way.

He dined on some beer battered fish and chips, while I had a chicken dish smothered in chili at Fox'n'Hounds in Naperville Illinois. Simple meal for a simply excellent night.

I think the next one I will give him will be a 00 Bolivar Royal Corona...another smooth and not overwhelming cigar...and I plan to do that soon. He wants to come watch one of my hockey games this month, so we can head out for drinks and 'gars after the slugfest...

Thank you all again, I have a huge smile after reading this thread.

Oh, and thanks for the new user title, guess I deserve it~!

Re: My Dad's Birthday

That sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
Although we occasionally share a couple of snifters of brandy whenever he comes by for a visit, my father hasn't smoked anything in the last 30 yrs. A couple of my bros. do come by for a smoke every once in a while.
