STFU old man!!! We only care if it's good or not...

honestly...once in a while I'll note different flavors and smells but I try to let it come to me instead of looking for it..that way I don't drive myself nuts thinking..."Hmm what did I detect in that puff/snork!"

I wish I could but I have to face the facts and just admit that I'm not capable of it. Trying to find the right term to describe the cigar just takes away from the experience and frankly pisses my off that I can't do it. So, in an effort to enjoy my cigar smoking experience more buy removing that stress and still have a way to remember what I like I have devised my own system. I figured what the hell, CA has theirs I can have mine. Mine is not quite as detailed as CA's as you will see. I don't know how you go to the humidor and reach for a 9.1 verses a 9.0. To do that is just impressive as hell! Another thing that I just don't get is picking a cigar based on mood. For me it's, I'm in the mood for a cigar or I'm not, simple. Why make it harder and more stressful on yourself? For example, you say to yourself "Oh I'm in the mood for a "bold" cigar"! So you go to the humidor and you're out of "bold". Now your mood just changed to bummed. Hope you have a "bummed mood" cigar in there or your SOL. So do you now grab the "SOL mood" cigar? If so will you really enjoy it?

I have smoked NC's for years and frankly only found a few that I truly enjoy (if that makes me a snob so be it I don't care). Since coming to CS I have had the good fortune through many fine men here to try different CC's (thank you all). Having found the general term "floral" as what I like in a cigar has helped me save me time and money as well as helping me find many cigars that I truly enjoy to smoke. I have also gotten over the "I must smoke 50RG or larger" thing I had in my head. Some smaller RG cigars taste unbelievable and I think they burn better for the most part. Anyway, since I have smoked a few different marcas and vitolas over the past six months I have discovered that for ME cigars fall into the following four categories. In hockey they have a saying, "keep it simple". This saying works well here as well as in other area's of life.

Note: If I win the lottery buy boxes and boxes of these

2 - WOW! That Was Awesome
Note: Have a box or two on hand

3- Very Nice

Note: Have a couple of fiver's on hand

4 - Never Again
Note: Like I said

Using the above system insures that every time my hand goes into the my humidor it comes out with something I like. If I mix them up and keep my eyes closed it's even better as whatever I get is a surprise and I don't have to make that mind numbing decision between a 2 or a 3.

Please feel free to use the above system if it meets your needs as well.

Thanks for letting me stick around.

All the best to each of you. Enjoy what you smoke, life's to short not to.

** I wanted to clarify a couple of things as I have had some guys ask me questions. **

The system is based on MY, "three key ingredients".
1) Draw
2) Burn
3) Flavor Profile (I like "floral" creamy)

As for cigars that fall into the #4 category. These are by no means dog rockets. They just lack one or more of MY three key ingredients so I would choose not to buy any more.

Thanks for reading.
Al

I subscribe to the age old thought of:

I either like it or I don't. If I like it, smoke it. If I hate it, pitch it.
