Re: Ordering cigars online

Cusano M1 is not great, I would pass. Try a Padron 2000, they are a great smooth cigar for a good price. Taboocigars has them for pretty cheap with their 20% off coupon.

Once upon a time the embargo made sense and was implemented for a reason (to avoid WWIII), now it is just ridiculous.

So here's where I stand. I'm slated to start my sophomore year of college this coming August, and I just turned 19. I wanted to celebrate turning 18 with a good cigar, something light, but I missed that deadline

I have a slight case of cerebral palsy, so I don't yet have a license; as a result, I can't drive to my nearest cigar shop in New York State. I'm looking for a decent website that allows me to buy singles as well as boxes, cheaply. Perusing CigarFox.com, I like everything about it, but I'm underage apparently; is that something that is checked heavily, or could I slip through their system and order?

You need to understand, I don't want to break the law, I just want a good smoke at a good price. I was considering the following singles:

CAO Gold Corona
Arturo Fuente Curly Head
Trinidad Maduro Toro
Cusano M1 Corona
Camacho Baccarat Rothschild
Santa Damiana 300

If you can recommend better starter smokes, let me know. I saw that sticky that was posted for newbies, but my questions remain unanswered: why are they good? And please keep in mind, I'm in the U.S, so no Cubans (Thank you, Mr. Kennedy). Maybe when Fidel dies, Raul will embrace democracy, hm? Pointless embargo, really...

Thanks for the help though,

Kegan[/quote]

Is that like those "we ID anyone under 40" signs? I love those. So if you are 18 and want to buy beer you could just argue and say "but I look over 40".

I like Tampa Humidor. They have free shipping on singles, and they only ask if you are 18

Niiiice site, now the question remains as to what sized humidor I should get...keeping in mind that I'm in college with limited space for anything too large or heavy.

How would this work out? Anyone have one to mention?:

Buy a small Igloo cooler and some beads, cheap and effective.

Tampa Humidor seems a nice site, but prices are on the expensive side, IMO. You can do better.

Re: Ordering cigars online

The age thing is all about liability and the cigar stores covering their asses! You click on the circle that states you are over 21 and go on. You don't have to show you I.D. and no one is going to show up at your front door. At least not yet.

Has anyone ever actually had that happen? I mean, we're not talking Cubans here, and I'm legal in my state, what kind of liability are they covering for?

Secondly, a cooler and beads would work, I agree, but I want something small, maybe for 20-25 cigars, just to test the waters, see if this is my thing, ya know?

Would people pay much for used humidors, or would it just be a nice candy dish after awhile? I wouldn't expect full price on one, no, but I'm probably right in guessing quality ones are cherished/collected, right?
(Such a newb question, eh?)

I'm a noob too, and can say that the Igloo/beads suggestion is the way to go. Just get a small cooler and a bead puck from cigarmony or heartfelt...way too easy

EB is on point. I use this thread whenever I order online. Pretty much anything I want I run through the list of sites to see who has it and who has the best price. Takes some time but saves $$$$. Sometimes it will be a big difference in price from site to site. I have ordered from several of the sites and none have ever asked for ID verification except for Holt's. They actually sent me a form to fill out and wanted a copy of my DL. Shredded that document. I have had my bank account tapped once to identity theft already. Nobody is getting a copy of my DL sent in the mail to buy smokes. Plenty of other sites out there.

As for the suggestions on smokes. Some of my favorites: Oliva V lancero (but all are awesome), and LFD double ligero Chisel.

Hope this helps and good luck with your cigar quest as well as this coming school year!!
