Re: Esencia Cigar *NEW*
Having tried the blend and seeing the real potential of the smoke I am glad to say these will be cigars that FOG's and newbs alike will enjoy. I believe the long-term aging potential for these smokes will be very good.
A smoke that will appeal to both old-school and new-school smokers. Good job gents |

Re: Esencia Cigar *NEW*
Hmmm This might be one I need to try and review for Cigar Command... When will they be available to us normal folks?

Re: Esencia Cigar *NEW*
I also took part in the Esencia blind review.
I had the opportunity to smoke the Petite Corona. While it was an impeccably gorgeous cigar, it was too young, and unsmokable. As such, I only smoked one for my review. I saved the other letting it out in the open air in my winador for a couple more weeks. When Chuck (chasden) visited me back on the 5th, I asked him to try it. His experience was identical to mine. Although the initial harshness wasn't there for him, the cigar went south and was unsmokable by the halfway point. The PC is a size I enjoy and Marc mentioned in our conference call that he considered the PC will be the "gem" of the line. I believe it's highly possible that that'll be the case. I felt that the cigar held a lot of promise and given the proper time to age, it'll be something very special. The launch date and spur of the moment blind review didn't allow the cigar the time it needed to be ready, and I'm very excited for the opportunity to try it again. That said, I'm the one guy in this whole deal that didn't very much enjoy the cigar. That's a pretty good average for a batch of cigars that admittedly wasn't quite ready. It's also the reason I think this brand holds a lot of promise.

Re: Esencia Cigar *NEW*
I am assuming this is the same "BlindReview" that I took part in back in June. I was unable to make the conference call, as I was in the middle of a nine day trek through the Humboldt Redwoods.
I have not been able to get in contact with the originator, so I will post the review here, in the hopes that it is the right blind review. This post is a simple copy and paste from what I sent to "BlindReview". HERE IT IS: "When I first received the cigars, I was absolutely amazed at how well these cigars were constructed. The wrapper on both were perfect. Very little veining and consistently firm. The pre-light aroma was not very strong, but to my nose it was a subtle and pleasant earthy smell with cedar. The first stick I used a 'V' cut and took a pre-light draw. Despite being packed well (by feel), there was absolutely no resistance in the draw.....extremely loose. Due to the rush of air coming through the stick, I was not really able to detect any discernible flavors. Immediately upon taking my first draw, I was hit with an intense spiciness. I am not a fan of spicy cigars, however, for the purpose of being fair, I continued to smoke the cigar. With each draw the spiciness increased to a point where the back of my throat became scratchy and gave me a feeling similar to acid reflux. After smoking he cigar to the halfway point, I could not handle the increasing spiciness and with much frustration let it burn itself out. I attributed the spiciness to the extremely loose draw and anxiously awaited smoking the second sample, chalking up the first experience as a fluke. For the second cigar, I decided to use a punch. The pre-light draw was perfect this time and the hint of perfect tobacco was a pleasant occurrence. I lit the cigar and was amazed at the copious amounts of off-white smoke that it produced. The smoke was so thick, it gave the feeling that I could have actually but into it. Regrettably, the first draw was met with extremely intense spiciness. I continued to smoke, allowing more and more time between drags, but the spiciness continued to intensify with each draw. Not wanting to give up on the cigar, I tried purging it several times, but was unsuccessful in getting the spiciness to subside. At about the halfway point, the back of my throat was burning and scratchy and again, that feeling reminiscent of acid reflux began to creep into my throat. Sadly, I had to set the second cigar down as I did the first and walk away. In my case, both cigars were so overpowering in their spiciness that I was never able to pick up any other flavors. In fact, hours after smoking them, I found that my taste buds were still affected by the spiciness, as foods just did not excite my palate. For those who enjoy an intensely spicy cigar, I think this will hit a home run. Unfortunately, for my palate, these cigars were not something that I was able to enjoy in the slightest. I want to thank you for this opportunity and truly am sorry I could not report back a successful, or enjoyable smoking experience. Take care and again, Thank you... Jim" Man, I wish I could have sent something more positive. These were gorgeous sticks!
