Special champagne: Commemorating Tour de France win by Lance Armstrong 2004

I opened up a special bottle of Leticia champagne tonight with some of my special friends from work. I got this bottle at a silent auction over a year ago and have been waiting for the right occasion.

The bottle is a special cuvee 1999 champagne that was hand etched and hand painted. Commemorating the 2004 Tour de France win by Lance Armstrong. You can see from the photo (link below), a picture of Lance and his team riders on the front of the bottle. The back of the bottle had the names of all his team members etched in the glass.

We enjoyed food, wine, and cigars. The cigars we smoked were Hoyos, Gurkhas and Camachos. After dinner we had, Gautier XO, or MacCallan 18 yr single malt, and Smith Woodhouse 2000 port.

The Christmas season is a time to enjoy good friends, spirits, wines and cigars.

Best to you and yours during this Christmas season,

The Doc

Yeah, me too. I used to cycle about 400 miles per week. Completed several centuries and a double-century. Too old for that sh#t now. But still love to watch on TV.

I was in France the day in 1997 when Greg Lemond came back on the final day time trail to beat Laurent Fignon. God that was exciting. I was watching it in a local bar on TV and the whole thing was in French. Didn't understand a word, but the time counting down on the screen told the whole story. Everyone in the place was screaming. The French loved Lemond.

That bottle was very nice. So how was the Champange? Don't follow cycling to closely but , Lance is the man. Anyone who can overcome all he has overcome is truely an amazing person. Hope you enjoyed the Champange.

The champagne was killer. It was a brut with light color and the tiniest of bubbles. A perfect splash for a group of friends. It was enjoyed by all.

Let's see, I had the champagne, the 2000 port, the XO, and many others, that was a great get-together. Thanks, Doc.
