Unless you mean 0 degrees Celsius.

To be completely honest, I never actually measured the temperature in my freezer. I'm merely going by what my wife stated (and since she's a molecular biologist I tend to trust her on things like that).

But based on my own research, it's:

32F - 2+ months.
23F - 3 weeks.
14F - 5 days.
5F - 3 days.
-4F - 1 hour.

NOTE: Those are core temperatures, not surface temperatures. Meaning at those surface temperatures, you may need more time.

I really should get one of those weather thermometers and toss it in the freezers just for shits and grins.
The Summer 2008 edition of Cigar Magazine has an article on beetles and they report that according to Japan tobacco, the numbers and times listed above are correct when referring to core temps.

I was surprised too and found I had not been freezing them long enough.

Looks like what I have been doing, 3 days at 0*F, is just fine.

Re: Shipping in the heat

About microwaving ,do you really want to cook your smokes? Freezing works fine for anyone that has a freeezer capable of going down to 0. If not try putting them in a cooler and using dry ice. It works fine and takes less time. It's worth the effort to prevent tiny pin holes in your entire collection! LOL

Have the same exact fridge.

I'm new to the jungle so just learning about all of these interesting tricks and techniques.

Anyway, I cranked the freezer compartment setting up to max and placed one of my lab grade homebrew thermometers on the bottom shelf of the freezer for about 2 hours. read out at -2*F.

Anyway, who needs ice cream when ya got cigars?!?!

Re: Shipping in the heat

My head hurts from all this scientific temperature talk. They are just cigars.
