Re: Beat the Heat

No matter how you look at it anything you do in the summer is way better than trying to enjoy a cigar in the winter!!!

Have a gin & tonic with the cigar. And keep a stiff upper lip. (gin & tonic is British.....never mind)

Re: Beat the Heat

Live some place exotic (meaning very hot and very humid) for 3 or 4 years.

After several years someplace like Okinawa where in the summer and fall it is 95 degrees with 95 percent humidity by 7AM, even Texas summers don't feel ALL that bad.

It's been hotter than hades this year in Central Texas - but it's just a case of mind over matter. If its a great smoke, the heat just doesn't feel quite as hot.

Re: Beat the Heat

We have a jacuzzi in the winter i keep it at 103 but in the summer i like it at about 85. Sometimes I put the hose in to cool it down . Nothing better than a cigar, A drink, in the jacuzzi with jimmy buffet music on the stereo. Thats where I will be in about half an hour from right now. Pat

Re: Beat the Heat

Don’t run your a/c in the summer that way when you go out side it will actually feel better…..j/k But really spending more time out in the heat will help you get used to it and make it seem not so bad. We have a screened in porch with a ceiling fan, moving air helps a lot. As others have mentioned early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler and a nice cold drink all help. It really is mind over matter. Hope this helps.

Re: Beat the Heat

I've got an enclosed back porch with an exhaust fan and lots of open windows. Of course I grew up in Mississippi and the summers in Ohio don't quite compare. So when everyone is complaining about the heat, it is just reminding me of home.

Re: Beat the Heat

I usually do one of three things:

1) Sit outside and suffer the heat
2) Wait for the sun to set and go outsite once it has cooled off a bit
3) Smoke at the local B&M

Re: Beat the Heat

Ok, I beat the heat. It's dark outside so I'm finally going outside to light up.

Maybe the heat beat me in reality.

Since I don't smoke inside the house I'm wondering how others of you beat the heat to still enjoy a stogie during the summer.

Obviously I know I could go indoors (i.e. home, B&M, bar, etc), but I'm wondering what you all do besides the obvious to beat the heat.
I envision myself in the Nicaraguan heat as I walk through the acres of tobacco leaves as they grow and cure in the shade of the country side. I think about the rollers and the pickers, and slowly sip on an ice cold beverage between puffs of my stogie!

Then I wake up in a puddle of sweat and realize it is just miserable hot outside.

Enjoy the weather, it's the only weather we get!!!

Before moving to NC, this was a common place for me to smoke.
These days I usually wait until later in the day when its cooled off which is usually 8pm or later. I have also taken to smoking in the car while either driving to or from work in the A/C.
