Fuente Flor Fina 858

hey guys just got back from my local shop where I purchased two A. Fuente Flor Fina 858s. I have not had a Fuente yet and wanted to try these. Has anyone had any experience with this particular Fuente?

I've had the Maduro version. Thought it was not good at all.

I've smoked quite a few of the 8-5-8 Maduro and always try and keep some on hand. They can be difficult to find though. I've always liked this cigar. The ones I've smoked have been medium body at best. The construction was always good and the burn has been great. They had a sort of sweet chocolate taste to me.

Plus I will add these are a great cigar in the Fuente line up. I would say medium bodied. But everyone that I have smoked has left me always wanting more.

Enjoy.

I've had both wrappers and prefer the maduro hands down. Trouble is they are only offered during this time of the year. I have four in the humi right now.

Nice mild cigar... normal excellent Fuente quality... I still have a couple of the sun-grown wrapper in a humidor... not sure they will ever make that one again... picked the last ones up a few years ago in Dallas... all they had... I have heard that the sun-grown wrapper version will never be released again... too bad... a great cigar!!!

Not true. I bought a box of 858 Maduro's last June. They are fairly tough to come by though. You've got to be patient.

Re: Fuente Flor Fina 858

Sweet and tasty mild - medium cigar. The maduros don't seem to burn quite as nicely as the naturals, for a first taste of Fuente you picked a good cigar, classic Fuente flavor profile.

The Hemingways are also a good choice for a taste of Fuente, I think the Classic has the best flavor of all. I'm not very keen on the shorter ones which seem to be very popular with many people.

Re: Fuente Flor Fina 858

The 858 was the first "real" cigar I had after partaking in various 7/11 type cigars, what a difference. This will always be on my list, a good smoke and it always brings me back to that first 858 experience. In fact I just picked up a couple of the Claro 858's, saw them in a local shop and had to pick up a couple, I have never tried this wrapper, it has never been in stock at any shops I've visited before, hope it's good!

You'll never go wrong with an 858. It's a classic. You also might look at the Hemingways also. A bit pricier, but worth it, IMO.

I bought some of the Sun-Grown wrapper 8-5-8's right out of a fresh box the week before Christmas. I was shocked my B & M had them on hand. I was there looking for their latest Anejo shipment and he brought these out for me. I have smoked a couple of the ones that I bought and they were decent to good. The rest I am gonna let sit a while.

Re: Fuente Flor Fina 858

The 8-5-8 is a good cigar. The natural is a good solid smoke, whereas I think the maduro is a bit harsh. The 8-5-8 shines when you get one of the candela (claro) wrappers. The Candela is a beautiful, vivid flavor (almost like citrus). I grabbed about 3 of the sungrowns about 3 days ago and smoked one of them. It was not the best Fuente Sungrown I have had, but it was on par with some of the other Fuente Sungrowns I have come across. If you are looking for a Sungrown I would go toward the Double Chateau Fuente Sungrown other than the 8-5-8, and if you are looking for a good 8-5-8 I would lean toward the Candela as opposed to the others in their line.
