Thank you for the feedback Warren.

I appreciate fair, honest and thought out assessments on our cigars.
No one is wrong when judging taste.

As they always say on these forums, smoke what you like, like what you smoke.

Re: Opinions on Puros Indios?

I had a couple of PI's years ago around 2000/01, a gift from my brother. I enjoyed them then, but it sounds like the blend has changed.

These are new lines under the Reyes Family Name. We still have our Puros Indios, Cuba Aliados and Cienfuegos lines.

I guess to sum up I appreciate the free sticks. That was a great offer and one that will probably allow me to recommend PI to my friends. But for me it's just not a cigar that I will probably go to.

All that being said I'll try the other two and report back if my findings are different.

Thanks again for the sticks.
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you smoking and reviewing the stick for what it is meant to be. Many people try a cigar and expect it to be like what they always smoke. You have to judge the stick for what it is trying to be. I think Warren did a great job.

Well, that explains that! Thanks for the info. I appreciate you chiming in here even if this thread isn't the most positive towards one of your products!

Re: Opinions on Puros Indios?

I tried one of the Premier's today that was received at no charge from Reyes Family Cigars.
I like maduros and this was a good cigar.
The color was OK. Some medium thick veins but, not bad.
The construction was first class, the ash was firm enough and was a pretty white color. The burn was even all the way down.
This, IMHO, was at least medium in strength and flavour with a medium finish that was soft and not too dry. A good blend of earth, white pepper and a slight woody sweetness of some kind.
I enjoyed this cigar.
Thanks, again to Justin. I have two more to try and will let those sit for a while longer.

I decided to post here ISO a review...

I got two premiers of different size, I gifted one to a friend to try. I smoked a what appeared to be a corona sized cigar.

There were a few really dark spots on the wrapper that looked a bit weird and it was pretty veiny.

The cigar was firm, had a great draw and burned well.

The flavor was of tobacco, it was also outside my profile. I don't think I would by these, just MY OPINION.

I am still looking forward to trying the classic...

No problem. Let me know what you think of the Classic, my new favorite.

Can you tell me what you mean by the Premeir being outside of your profile? Did it have flavors that you do not care for?

Thanks

First, I want to say thanks for sending the cigars.

Yeah, I didn't care for it... I put it down at the halfway point. I didn't seem to have that rich flavor that Nicaraguan cigars are known for, it almost seemed stale and flat. It produced lots of smoke, something I like, but the smoke didn't seem to have presence or any real character that I could grab a hold of... It just tasted "smokey" and that is a quality I can find in $1 per cigar bundles... I am not looking for; honey, leather or star anise when I smoke... just something unique to the brand, something to make it distinct from an average smoke that any Joe can put out... I didn't find it here...

I smoke allot of cigars from all over the world and from many different manufactures. I am not an expert or FOG by any stretch, but I do enjoy most cigars that I smoke and look to always find that next great cigar... maybe the classic is it...

I agree with kansashat, I like Cuba Aliados but I really don't care for Puros Indios at all. If it's one thing I really hate, it's a plugged cigar and I've had far too many bad experiences with plugged Puros Indios but never with Cuba Aliados.

I've received 3 freebies as well and am an inch or so into the Reyes Family Premier in the OMG-My-Jaw-Hurts vitola and I'm getting the earth and woody sweetness as well.

This is as unique as the PI MR/Viejo cigars I enjoy but the flavor profile is not the same. I think this would appeal more to the smokers that hate the Puros Indios, it's closer to a 'traditional' kind of flavor profile with a heavy dose of it's own personality.

Congrats to Reyes family on this blend, it's pretty good! Looking forward to the other 2, I believe another Premiere in a smaller vitola (thank God! did I mention my jaw hurts?) and a Classic (?... dark green band instead of blue?) in a honkin pyramid size.

Re: Opinions on Puros Indios?

I recently posted a review of the Classic Pyramid here http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=173785

Thanks again to the Reye's Family folks for the sampler. I have smoked the Premier robusto & thought I might smoke the toro with a cuppa coffee this AM & post a collective review of the two cigars.

After taking a closer look at the larger cigar, I realized that it is the 6x60 Gordo & not the toro.
