What this country needs is a good $2 cigar

OK, I know there have been variations of this questioned asked before but here goes:

I am looking for a good handmade $2.00 or under (internet box price) cigar to be smoked during my morning commute or after lunch, 20-30 minutes in duration.

My preferences are:
  1. Mild to medium bodied (probably will be my first cigar of the day)
  2. Lighter colored wrapper such as a CT shade (or generic). Not fond of maduros
  3. Prefer a short, fat cigar versus long skinny one
  4. House brands are perfectly acceptable
I appreciate your feedback!

Baccarat Rothchilds?
I think you can get those for under $2/stick from either CI or Famous.

Perhaps the Punch Rothschild natural would do the trick. They are short and fat, medium strength, decent off the truck, and two bucks a stick. The downside is they come in a box of 50.

They can last longer than a half hour in case you get stuck in traffic.

You can currently find 25 Gran Habanos, 4.5 x 50, for $52US (almost $2 each) including shipping. The #1 may be your best choice for the smoke you describe. Although I love the #5s the best, the entire line is one of the best bangs for the buck (IMHO).

Go to: http://www.atlanticcigar.com/granhabano.html

Enjoy!

St. Luis Rey Rothchilde Maduro - $46.00 for box of 25 at Atlantic. As a matter of fact, I need to order some.

Figo sad FDO. Yessir, that's another good one for the price IMO.

Punch London Club. They are a small and affordable smoke. About $25-28/box (depending on wraapper used), and in my opinion, pretty darn tasty.

Have you tried the:
Slow-Aged Lot 826 by Perdomo that you mentioned? (see above link)

I'm a big Perdomo fan. Actually the Perdomo Reserve Champagne would be a perfect cigar for my needs if it were cheaper.
I wish these Slow Aged were available in 5 packs from CI. I could add one on the next time I order a Joe Cigar daily deal & get free shipping. I've vowed not to buy boxes of cigars unless I am familiar with them. I have many many mediocre cigars in my humidor that I've bought on "deals". Most are OK but I always grab cigars I like better when I want a smoke.
I prefer to buy singles from a B&M then look for deals if I want to buy boxes.

Gispert is a new favorite of mine, at the same site you listed:

Clicky

Quote:
Gispert features a mellow blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-leaf fillers wrapped in a light, smooth Connecticut-seed leaf grown in Ecuador. It’s a creamy, mild smoke with hints of sweetness and cedar throughout.
Sounds good to me

Felipe Georgio Americana on cbid. You can usually get a box for less than $30. For the price I think they are good.

Re: What this country needs is a good $2 cigar

The $0.50 CFO sticks are very good for the price and fall into the medium strength range. 5 Vegas Gold is another solid choice. I also like any of the Flor de Oliva sticks given their price. Finally, the La Vieja Habana - Leather Patch series really impressed me and can be scored quite cheap on CI or Cbid if you watch for a good deal.

Nice, cheap, and short smoke.
