Have always used a butane lighter,,,at the very least a triple refined fuel. I have had lighters where I used a cheap brand of fuel and regretted it. Matches? Unless you enjoy the taste of sulpher I wouldn't use one unless it is one of those fireplace ones that are about a foot long. By the time you burn off the sulpher you need at least a few more inches to light a churchill correctly.

Especially if you just forked over $10 plus for a cigar. That is like buying a 2 inch Ribeye steak and smothering it with catsup,,,just doesn't seem right!
