Ashton ESG, worth $25.00?

I'm going out tonight with two cigar loving buddies for drinks, dinner & several cigars. The restaurant has an outdoor bar that allows smoking.
I want to finish the evening with an exceptional cigar. I'll have a few cocktails in me so I probably want a stronger cigar. I have a few Opus X, RP Decades, Camacho Selects & various Pepin Garcia sticks in my box but I was wondering if I should pick up an Ashton ESG @ my local cigar store. I've never smoked one but I've had their VSG which I found a bit lacking in strength.
The ESV costs $25.00 @ this store. Is it worth the price?

No. I'm a huge fan of Ashton products (the VSG Spellbound makes my top-5 list)--the ESG, for me, is one-dimensional and not worth the price. If your B&M carries them, pick up a few Tatuajes--I have a feeling they'll give you that strength/flavor profile you're looking for (I know, not the most original recommendation around here, but damn they're good)..

agree. what you already have is as good, and in most cases better, than the esg and especially at that price. i like the tatuaje idea. maybe an rc233 or a reserva a uno if you want something special!

Thanks,

I do love the Tatuajes but I've only smoked the red banded ( Havana, I think it's called) & white banded (not nearly as good). The black label has a cult-like following here. I'd love to get my hands on one.

Pass on the ESG and grab a Tatuaje RC184...way better, and cheaper to boot.

Keep watching they are available to buy every once in a while, but they are pricey

Don't listen to Justin...he's crazy...Tat's are horrible! ...

Seriously though...$25 for a stick is a bit crazy IMHO..unless of course it's a Davi.

A night like that with dinner and drinks calls for a nice maduro cigar.

I love ESGs, but $25 is a bit steep, frankly!

I can get them for around $20.00 here and that is still too steep. Maybe worth it for a VERY special occasion cigar.

Only you can tell if you like it. I don't think they are worth the jack. I'll buy three or four Pepins for $25.

And I listened to their sage advice.

I didn't stop for a ESG.
I just packed my pocket case with:

A Rocky Patel Signature
A RP Decade
An Opus X
I'll smoke the Signature before dinner because it's milder then one of the other two afterwards.
A couple of Tangueray & tonics, sauteed soft shell crabs, lots of eye candy & great cigars with good friends.
Life is good! Well most of the time anyway.
Have a great weekend & thanks for your advice.....
