Now I am really upset!!!!!!

A dozen or so years ago I turned my business partner onto cigars. Although he now loves a good cigar he has no respect for them. It has always bugged me that he will take a vintage churchill, chop it in half to smoke it over 2 nights. I started only giving him robustos. He mooched so many cigars from me that eventually I started charging orders to his credit card to make up. I keep an Aristocrat in the office and now he always has a few boxes that are "his". Over the years there have been dozens of incidents. He has lost or misplaced my lighters and cutters. The other day he was in my car, borrowed my cutter and despite my asking him to hand it right back he set it on the console where it promptly slid down under the seat. When I asked where my cutter was he didn't know, he forgot. After 20 minutes of digging around I found it wedged deeply between the seats. He borrowed one of my Shermans for a trip and when he brought it back it reeked. He had stored half smoked cigars in it and this despite a specific admonition from me not to do that. However, the last incident was the last straw. Friday he went into my Aristocrat and helped himself to one of my Le Hoyo de Deputes from 96. I was out of the office on Friday and Monday. As I unlocked my office this AM I hear a beep, beep, beep noise. There is my Aristocrat with the door wide open. The reservoir is bone dry and the RH is 38%. I do not know how long it took for all of the water to evaporate, but the door was open for 4 days. I was bullsh*t. I doubt there was any irrepairable damage, but my cigars were definitely dry. It is now about 5 hours later and the humidity is still only at 52%. Actually it is probably best that the humidity return slowly. When I confronted him his response was that he did not remember leaving the door open, but that it might have been him. He also added that I am a bit too fussy about things. Bad move. I have not cooled down yet, but I have locked my humidor. I always wondered why anyone would have to lock their humidor. Now I know. Aaaarrrrrrggghhhh!!!!!!

RE: Now I am really upset!!!!!!

Nothing I can say that would really help you not me angry about this.
Yet I would dare say he needs to be the owner of his own humidor.
It may be in your best interest to order him one that he has to take care of so he can learn why it is such a big deal and why you tend to be what did he say? A bit too fussy.

That way he can cut um appart, and dry um out to his content.

The way I see it this issue certainly is enough to curly your shorthairs, but I wouldn't loose a business over it. Tell him that you really are that particular and you feel it best that he has his own Humidor, then if he cares to learn pretty soon he will be asking you why when he cuts his cigars they are crunchy.
This has worked before...

RE: Now I am really upset!!!!!!

Get him an el cheapo from bargain humidors and let him ruin his own cigars.}>

It sounds like it's time to cut his ass off. I would tell him to get his own humidor or go down to Cigar Masters if he wants to keep any cigars.

I would suggest he start purchaseing his own cigars and keep them in his own cabinet or humidor. Sorry to hear about the misfortune bro.

I do however wish to thank you for the SS package you sent. It had to be one of the most stunning packages I have ever recieved. Thanks for making 2002 a year to remember my friend.

That really sucks!!! It grinds my butt when people do not take
care of things that I try to take care of.

Hopefully, they are not lost. Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
a great stogie and a drink.

RE: Now I am really upset!!!!!!

Bummer!! Maybe this true story will give you some ideas.
Many Many years ago I worked for a custom meat packing plant in a small town. The owner was also the Mayor of this small town. Well Mr Mayor had a bad habit of cutting his toenails in the bathroom and leaving his clipings on the floor. His wife had ask him repeatedly not to do this.Every time he would tell her Im sorry and it won't happen again. But it did. He continued on with his ways and did not think much of it. Then one Sunday morning his wife made his favorite breakfast Pancakes. As he began to eat them he felt something crunchy in those pancakes. His wife had saved his toenail clippings for over a year and mixed them in the batter!!!

He no longer clips his toenails in the bathroom!!

Good Luck

I'm really sorry to hear it Steve. I hope you can resuscitate those cigars without loosing any. It sounds like it's time to start locking your humi.

RE: Now I am really upset!!!!!!

Steve,

It sounds to me like your so-called friend has no respect at all for your property, your privacy or YOU. On the personal end, I'd cut it totally off with that person. My biggest concern is what ELSE has he taken that you don't know about. He had absolutely NO business whatsoever in your office to begin with. On the business end, I'd keep it strictly that: business.

I'm sorry to hear about this.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Steve

Those passive-aggressive types are the worst. With all the underlying issues that he has, some clear boundaries will give you the peace of mind in knowing that at least your future will be clear of this behavior.

I am truly sorry that you have to deal with this drama.

Well it's been few day's now but I doubt so little time has calmed you down over this one. This is perfect example of why I think it should be ok to kill somebody if they REALLY piss you off.

I probably shouldn't joke around like that, but this would be hard for anyone to not get angry about.

Sounds like he needs to respect your space and love for the habit. Everything you named would have pissed me off.

Steve I hope the "Christmas Goose" has cooled off. Definately lock it and if he asks for "his" cigars just say thay you threw them out as the dried out too bad to recoup..... Else just put them in his pancakes or doughnut...
