Are you addicted to cigars?

I smoke about every other day. However their are time when I go weeks without smoking a stick. If I don't feel like it I won't. As of right now I have not smoked in two days, and I don't plan on smoking tonight. I might tomorrow though.

I'm with JoeD, I'm addicted and do not wish to quit. It's one of the few vices I have left and I get alot of enjoyment from them.

I mean...Come on, what's more relaxing than a great smoke and glass of Port????

I smoke because I like to smoke and I like cigars. Several years ago when I developed a flutter around my heart I quit for a month or so without any problem until I was able to figure out the real cause of my problem. I could have staid a non-smoker as I did for eight years with cigarettes but when a serious health reason was not there, I had no incentive to break up my love affair with the cigar.

I can't say I'm addicted. I only smoke later in the week and the rest of the week I don't smoke at all and I have no problems there. But, my personality isn't addictive at all. I've been on some very serious pain meds this last year (Dilaudid, Fentanyl, Morphine, Percocet, Vicodin, Demerol, & More sedatives than I care to count) and now that I'm dosing down to next to nothing and I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms at all. So I figure if that stuff doesn't get me addicted then cigars aren't much to deal with. I used to love a good wine at the end of a week or with a nice meal and now I can't drink even the smallest amount or risk serious health problems. Cigars have taken it's place for me so I like a cigar at the end of a work week to chill out with or after a nice meal (nothing beats that to me) I personally believe addiction is 99% mental. But, I will not deny that there are some physical aspects to it. For me though it's all in your head. My

You needed an option that said "I don't care whether I'm addicted or not, as I have no intention of ever quitting cigar smoking no matter what!"

PS - I intend on being buried with a cigar in my hand, and a fiver, a lighter, and cutter in my pocket, and when I meet my maker I plan on offering him a fresh one...

I second that, I'm addicted and enjoy being addicted. Wouldn't want to quit. There are only a few things in life I enjoy, My wife (just in case she watching) Fishing, Golf and of course Cigars. I didn't mention Kids because I had 3 for 18 or more years and I'm really tired of them . I think about cigars all the time. It's been getting worse since I quit smoking the "crappy" cigars and started on the one's I really enjoy, Pardon Annv, Partagas, PSD4 & 2's, and Juan Lopez. I even drive down the road and notice other cars license plates and think, " Hey, that a cuban box code" SVF04 on a woman's car the other day. Crazy I tell you. Live life enjoying.

I have already slain so many of my other personal demons over the years - if cigars kill me (or more likely bankrupt me) - then so be it.

Am I’m addicted? I only smoke an average of 2 cigars a week and once in a while 3 to 4 but not frequently. Sunday is always my cigar day and usually Saturday night I’m thinking about what to smoke on Sunday. I really enjoy having a cigar because of the relaxation state it puts me into while intoxicating it. So… the answer must be YES.

Right you are... I went with "I am addicted but could quit anytime I want to"

I have a cigar almost everyday... maybe 5 (give or take 3) a week and every now and then when I haven't had one I get a squirmy feeling I know is a nicotine withdraw/craving. I don't give in to it very often... I only smoke when the time is right and do not force my schedule to revolve around the smoke BUT I do get the physical craving that comes from addiction.

I used to smoke cigarettes MANY moons ago... I just quit cold turkey when I decided to and know I can with cigars today. Heck... I was in church this morning thinking about how much I spend a month and almost decided to quit because of that

Hmmm.... I guess for me it's more of a pretty strong habit. I've gotten into the habit of smoking at certain times and at specific events. These times and events have increased fairly significantly over the years. What was just a 3 cigars a week habit has turned into a once a day affair (and occasionally more).

I've decided, mostly for my health, to cut back a tad and smoke only 3-4 times a week. I'm also motivated to do this because I know I enjoy the smokes more if I'm not smoking every day. I also will be able to smoke better cigars (mostly ISOMs) since I'm partaking in half as many on a weekly basis. Therefore, my health and quality of smokes will benefit.

That doesn't really sound like an addiction. Obsession maybe, probably not that either. Sounds like you smoke in moderation and unless you're constantly thinking about your next smoke, I believe you're just participating in something that you enjoy but doing it in a pretty responsible way. My for what it's worth.
