yellowish cellophane wrap on cigars

Has anyone encountered this recently, if so let me know what you think, I have come across several cigars with a yellowish cellophane wrapping on them, they have been humidified correctly by all accounts and temperature controlled. With this being said, the little rascal smoked beautifully, 'twas a La Gloria torpedo, I have heard the yellow color is due to age of possibly ten years or more. Any ideas.

Also the cigar was very beautiful, very few veins in the wrapper very very smooth looking cigar and a easy smoke burned very even. I would say rather excellent. Please give me some feedback as I am curious to the age. The owner did not know but thought they were older cigars.

Re: yellowish cellophane wrap on cigars

the cello turns this color after a good amount of time due to the oils being released from the cigar.
If you encounter the "yellow cello" this is a pretty good sign that you have an older cigar and that can be a good thing.

Cellophane can turn yellow with just a year or 2 of aging, depending on the oils in the cigar. They could be 10 years old though. As long as they taste good......

Happy smoking.

Virtually all sticks in my humidor over a year old have yelowing cello. The more oil the more yello and the older the more yellow.

Re: yellowish cellophane wrap on cigars

Yellow cello is bad for your cigars. You need to get rid of all cigars in your humi that have yellow cello. You can dispose of them by sending them all to me
I will take the contaminated sticks and burn them one by one.
