So, I went on a fantastic date last night (got home at 6am it was so fantastic) and part of it involved going to Downtown Disney, dancing, and watching the fireworks... while we were there, I noticed a cigar kiosk! Now the girl I was with isn't a fan of smoking anything penis like (she said she didn't like the idea of sucking on something like that, I made lots of fun of her) so I didn't get a chance to really check it out. I did notice a few things though, their prices were bananas, with a couple Acid cigars running over $20 a stick, the most notable thing I saw though was on the end of the kiosk (it was long with skinny ends) sticking out into the crowd was an end cap consisting of many many Cohibas!

My first reaction was, "haha, oh wow," but as I was looking at the other side, I realized, they had yellow labels, not black and white. I went back to take a look, are sure enough, they were fakes. The price, now that I looked closer, was also a little low, at $12-16 depending on their size. The labels resembled either of these, though I'm not sure which (or if it was something else all together).

I recall the head being on the label, but it had fancy Republica Dominicana writing on it.

Anyway, next time I'm over in Downtown Disney I'll try to snap some pictures, I was more than a little distracted at the time and didn't to dwell too long on the cigars... that said I ended up enjoying a cigar as she tried her first around 4am after a house party. She liked it, awesome date.

I don't have much experience with Dominican Cohibas, but it wouldn't surprise me if a major venue carried fake cigars (surely unbeknownst to them). Are you sure there were never any Dominican produced Cohibas with those lables? I assume thats why you called them?

Yep. Definitely fakes. Obviously the Dominican Republic band gave it away. Also, real Cuban's have 3 rows of dots above the word cohiba.

These are not fake Cohibas, these are genuine Dominican Cohibas. They are not attempting to sell these as cuban cigars, clearly, because the band shows that they are made in the Dominican Rebublic.

A company as mainstream and profitable as Disney World would never attempt to sell Cuban Cigars, real or fake. They don't need to.

+1. I was saying that they are fake Cubans. They are genuine Dominican Republic ones.

I don't know how they taste b/c I have never had a Cuban one or a non-Cuban one. I only have tried the red dot one.

Well....A fake Cuban means that the cigar is somehow trying to portray that it is a Cuban. By trying to match the Cuban band and have the same markings as the Cuban.....Havana, Habana,Cuba,etc.

These clearly say they are Dominican.

So, not a fake Cuban, just not a Cuban

To get technical, it is in fact a fake Dominican Cohiba since the Cohiba name is owned by General Cigar which market only the red dot Cohibas.

but the Cohiba owned by General Cigar USED to have a yellow lable (before that lawsuit that made them go with the red dot)

Thats possible, but where is it documented that General Cigar Holdings issued out Cohibas to the market with the yellow bands? From what I know, they brought to market the Cohiba line with the red dot in 1997, even though they owned the name (in the USA) since 1978 or so.

Now, if there are any legit General Cigar Cohibas with the yellow bands on them, I'd like to know where since that would be an ultra rare find

one of my buddies were telling me about these same exact cigars being sold at state fair here in wisconsin. he kinda bitched the guy out. cigars at state fair are over priced and there are a lot of acids which me and my cigar smoking buddies dont like at all.

(cigar smoking clown... hell, why not)

Weren't the yellow bands supposed to be destined for the Dominican market only? I'm sure I read that somewhere on here, but my search capabilities have been hindered by large amounts of booze.
