I Can Smell The Moisture

I've got five cigars in a Caddy with my 69 degree Boveda packet. All of them are firmer than they were but one of them smoked fine, so I'm not worried.

However, they smell like they've been wet; I can smell the water on/in them from the packet; is this normal or OK?

Thanks
Kegan

Re: I Can Smell The Moisture

If they smoke fine, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Until you get a hygrometer you can only guess what the humidity is.

Re: I Can Smell The Moisture

Get a hygrometer and some beads, it will end all the guess work and concerned questions about if your cigars are too wet/too dry/correct seal/if the packets work/how high your humidity is/etc.

Re: I Can Smell The Moisture

Gonna have to be a hygro only, I won't soon have room for beads since I'm slipping a fourth tray in the caddy. Here's hoping it doesn't hurt them.

I'm not too concerned though, no, as you've both said, they smoke all right for me, so there's no evident danger or fault.

Thank you both so much -
Kegan

If you have room for a cigar you have room for beads

Re: I Can Smell The Moisture

Thanks for that link, I'll be able to fit at least 22 cigars into an 18-ct. humi after all of this, with the trays, beads, and a hygro.

From there, it's a tupperdor until I move out lol. Quite the lifestyle
