I have a project on the bench for you right now.
As it turns out, you're bad luck. That or there's some sort of internet transmissable curse attached to you, cause every time I go to finish your bomb, it's one disaster or another.
Maybe I oughta just send you a pie?
Speaking of pie, has anyone sent Vinnie a pie lately?

Re: Project of the Day : Vinotemp Drop-in Chest of Drawers Prototype

The last couple days I've been working on cranking a few of these out.
Hopefully, barring the normal 10,000 daily interruptions, I'll have three or four of these nearly finished.
I think I'll wait to stain them until the last minute, but they take a good week to ten days for the stain to cure.
I'll make up my mind in the next couple days.

Thanks again for everyone's words of encouragement.
It makes all the difference in the world when I'm working on this stuff to know that you guys are digging it.

wow you never stop to amaze me with your abilities..if I had the money....that might actually be something I would buy off the bat...and here I thought I wouldn't get a vino unless I had a permanent residency...but that is just wow

Scott, nice, well-thought-out design and great execution!!
Norm Abrams would be proud.
How is the new Band saw working out for you?
Keep cranking on these projects, you may yet inspire me back into my own workshop/garage.

I couldn't be more pleased with that bandsaw. Just figured out how to set the microfine yesterday. I've gotten enough practice with it now that I can start chopping up expensive wood.

Now you're gonna get fancy on us and start doing bookmatched sides.
Keep after it. You have the "knack" for this kind of work.

I don't know what a bookmatched side is, so we're safe for now.
Kerri found a whole set of woodworking books at a garage sale today. If I can get time tomorrow, I'm gonna download them all into my brain.

In a nutshell, bookmatching is resawing a board and gluing the two halves edge to edge to make a mirror image of the grain pattern.
With an interesting pattern the result can be quite striking.
It is the main reason I would love to have a bandsaw.
Keep posting pictures of your projects, they are very nice.

I saw that on a bunch of Staebell's Mini's.
They do the inset in the door like that. I think it costs another $10,000 or something.
I've been on a worldwide search for interesting grain for quite some time now. I saw some Bubinga Crotchwood that was gorgeous, but incredibly expensive.
The whole reason for all this building is to gain enough skill to make big humis. I want to build a monster display cabinet out of Sassafras for myself so I can get rid of the winadors.
I want to build a bunch of desktops out of Sassafras, too.
There are lots of Amish sawmills right around here but they don't cut much hardwood. Mostly hemlock. I should take a ride today and see what's laying around.

Very nice job, Scott! I know many BOTLs would be in the market for some of your beautiful Humis!
