Teachers: Summer Vacation is Over

I return to my school tomorrow to report for duty. Will have one week of work before the kids return to school. I know there are many other teachers here at CS, just wondering when the rest of you go back (or already went back).
I'm gonna smoke a special stick tonight in honor of my last day of Summer Vacation. All of you BOTLs smoke one in honor of all the teachers who are returning to work. Smoke one and pray that we make a difference and help our students' minds to develop in the proper way. And hopefully we will have a positive impact on them this year.

I went in today to pick up my computer, not happy about that. I am going into my 9th year of teaching and each year has been an adventure. I start the day after labor day, but we report next week to go through meetings about how not to hit kids or buy drugs from them, the normal bs. Good luck to everyone who is in the field of education or is sending their child or loved one to school this year. I hope they have a wonderful and safe year.

Seriously? They have meetings where the whole point is maybe you should find a dealer you won't have to fail in Algebra?

Im not joking, we have to go to a meeting where they go over rules like, no hitting the kids, no screaming or cursing at them. This is where your tax dollars go. And remember Bryan, we also have to do STD Bingo with them.

We don't have that meeting here, but probably should start, given the character of some teachers in my county. These actions (and worse) have gone one in this area. Public school system is not in good shape right now (at least where I'm from).

There are a lot of good people here too, who genuinely care for the wellbeing and education of the people in the community.
So like I said, please pray for us and the students.

My vacation actually starts today, but sadly only goes for two weeks. I teach special ed and have to do six weeks of summer school. But I really appreciate the next two weeks off with nothing to do.

And yeah, you wouldn't believe what they put you through as teachers. I had a class way back when for my credential called "Voice, Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice", try and tell me that didn't have a political idealogy behind it.

The wife went back today. Same deal. No kids this week, just workshops and getting prepped. I joked with her last night and said "It's about time you went back to work!" Needless to say she did not find me amusing. She is excited for this year because she had been teaching Spanish for the last 5 years and this year she has a 5th grade position.

Exactly ... which is why I'm very thankful I'm a college prof: we're dealing with adults, so it's OK to yell and buy their drugs.

Going in to get my keys and fill out some paperwork for the new yob today. Woo-hoo!



Oh ... and a quick "neaner-neaner" to the other teachers: I don't have to teach until the spring semester ... and even then it's only one class ... two days a week.

whatever age I at my decided it was "cool" that my Dad smoked cigars.. and before the age in which I took health into concern.. which is before the age in which I took it up as a hobby!
