Mixed Nuts

I don't know if anyone else has had this thought, but earlier this morning it hit me that smoking cigars is like eating a can of mixed nuts.

The nuts have a mixture of inexpensive and more expensive, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews, filberts, hazel nuts, and pecans, just like my humidor. Sticks from a good $1.30 B&M bundle made by Camacho to a few RP Decades and an assortment in between.

You may like all the assortment of nuts in the can but you have your favorite and to me the others seem to make the favorite that much better when you get one. There are also some you just may not care for and you leave those for someone else, ala getting a dog rocket from a well intentioned but uninformed friend or relative.

I am of course looking forward to the time when my humidor resembles more of the premium mixed nuts instead of the plain mixed nuts. You know, the kind that says contains less than 50% peanuts. In the mean time I am enjoying the mix.

Okay, I must ask you these questions after reading your post; how long did you ponder the similarities versus the differences between nuts and cigars? Did you consider salted v. non-salted nuts; cuban v. non-cuban cigars? Were you consuming adult beverages when this struck you all of a sudden? Humm, you are a deep thinker for sure but do you work for the mixed nut industry and are you a sales person looking to increase the sales of the mixed nut division? - -

I throw all of the Brazil nuts out of the mixed cans.
I finally started buying cans of roasted peanuts for every day, and a can of cashews for those special occasions.
Also cans of almonds.
The "mix" gets me started, and then I separate the corn from the manure and just buy the corn.
Same thing with the smokes. I try to only smoke each example of a bad cigar once (but I did buy a fiver of gurkhas, bad mistake).

Smoking cigars and thinking about nuts. This whole subject explains your avitar, or maybe it's what you were drinking with the nuts. Ever try sterno with the nuts, the salt makes a guy awful thirsty.

not long;no;haven't had enough cubans to really make a solid judgement;no but wished I had a mojito at the time; no but would if it paid more than I make now.
