My wife is the greatest!

My girlfriend hates cigars...but at least she seems to like me. She exaggerates her coughs every time I come in after a smoke. I got caught smoking with my friends inside the house and she was like a nuclear teapot that wouldn't shut up...she definitely makes it difficult to smoke when she's around. And she hates steaks and burgers no matter how delicious.

But...

She bought me a 52" flatscreen for my man cave, a 47" for the bedroom, paid for the landscaper and yard furniture...sooooo

Its give and take. I smoke outside and do the best not to offend her. If I absolutely positively NEED meat, I tell her I have to get gas and gorge myself in the In-N-Out drive through in the middle of the night. She seems to sincerely hate cigars for health reasons, so I can't be that resentful of her.

Other then the smell, this is my wife's main concern too. I'm with you, I don't fault her for it. Glad to know I am not totally alone .

I agree! My wife tolerates my smoking cigars and goes along to the local cigar bar etc. She would rather I did not partake but she is fine considering she lost her brother and father to lung cancer (cigarettes). I would not give her or the cigars up so I make a few minor compromises to keep the peace 30+ years!

Ok so maybe it is sweet that she cares about you and your health but that is a little more motherly than I would care for. I wouldn't tolerate an incentive program where I get to earn the things I want by jumping through hoops. I earned them by being a man and working my ass off. If she gets concerned about my health she can make a statement then it will be up to me to take action if I want. Earning cigars by exercising is too close to earning sex by doing your chores. No matter how you look at it she is telling you when you are allowed to smoke. You have to get permission. She is telling you that you are too much of a child to do what you should without her guidance, direction, and incentives... too motherly.

I'll take that. From my post, it might seem like that. It really isn't but you would have to know us to understand that. I am still new to cigars and so when I started, I was smoking a lot of cigars to try all the different kinds out there. I think that freaked her out and so, to keep the peace, I made an agreement with you. She never said don't do that. She just asked if I could cut back to keep it a hobby and not a habit. I feel good relationships are built on respect for each other. I had to work out anyhow since my cholesterol is high and needed more motivation to do it, so I came up with the reward plan. It was a nice win-win situation.

I was just having what was the end of a great day. Started off with a great cigar and ended with a great cigar. I was excited that she let me break away from date night to do it. That's right, I did ask permission to break away from a time we set aside every week to enjoy each others company. It would have been rude not to.

I will have to put more thought into my posts in the future... never thought a quick post would explode like it did.

The only compromises I have made are no smoking in the house and brush my teeth before I try to kiss her. Other than that we live in cigar/non smoker harmony

I know this is a low blow but i can't resist, my wife doesn't like when i smoke too...... oh yeah wait, shes 5 months pregnant and just jealous she can't smoke one with me too right now. But don't worry since my wife is your wife's old college roommate she promised to try and bring your wife to the dark side, or should i say smoke side?

i have mixed feelings about this ....

1. i do what i want ..... BUT out of respect for my family, who i love with every little spot in my sweet heart. i would NEVER smoke in the house, but to tell me if i can or how many i can smoke, thats a whole different story .... it aint happening lol

2. she loves u .... as much as it kills me that shes telling u how much u can smoke. u can tell she loves u and shes 50/50 on it and she cares. smoke, but work out? doesn't sound to bad, it actually sounds like a GREAT idea. u want to hurt ur body? u better work your body! i like it

but IF and WHEN she changes that deal, u leave her ass!
