CAO Italia

Any think the boxed pressed CAO Italia smell a little "strange"? I bought one and took it out of the cello today and his has a very, well, non tobacco smell. It kind of smells of damp earth with a touch of....maybe mushroom. It reminds me of a bag of, well, "magic" mushrooms I had in college. Very distinct smell. Anyone notice this or am I having a flashback!

I will probably smoke it tomorrow regardless, but I just wondered if anyone else had this experience.

(I bought it from one of the best B&M's in the state so I don't think it is old or has been stored out of the ordinary)

Re: CAO Italia

I have never noticed a strange smell from these. I have smoked 4 or 5 of them and find them to be a decent enough cigar. Hope you enjoy it.

Yup, smells like shrooms. Especially the foot.

Might be tobacco grown under cow patties. Skin crawling yet?

i had one fo these a couple of weeks ago. one of my cigar smoking buddies doesn't have a humi so he just buys cigars from a local shop. usually i smoke cigars from my humi but i wanted to try something new, so i went with him to the local store and picked up one of these and went home to smoke it. i didn't smell anything wrong with this cigar. it tasted well. but imo i found this cigar to be decent but there are definitely better cigars out there.

Re: CAO Italia

So I tried it, wasn't too bad. Very earthy with hints of spice like I expected. Actually reminded me of fall for some reason when I smelled the smoke coming right off the stick. Going to have to try it again before I make up my mind about it.

You might want to know where they are stored. In a sub-basement near damp or moist earth. Oohh, it almost smells putrid thinking about it!

Re: CAO Italia

I like these although not enough to by them by the box. Just a now and then cigar to add a little variety to my smoking pleasure.

No strange smells as you describe.

I haven't smelt shrooms for years... but now that you mention it I think you hit it on the head. I find the taste of CAO Italia a little strange as well but not unpleasant.

Re: CAO Italia

Yeah it was weird, that being the first thing that comes to mind. I am definately going back to test the waters again. maybe they have a box of shrooms behind the CAO's
