Humidor Trouble!
Iv had my humidor for about ten days now. On the second day i did the appropriate breakin procedures provided by a well known respected cigar shop in my area. They said after following their instructions you can throw your cigars in. So i went to my local shop and bought a few (1 romeo tubo, 1 fonseca, 1 camacho, 1 padron, and a few cohiba cigarillo's) the humidity was at 68% with the cigars in so decided to put in a small container of distilled water along with my humidifier and after 2 days the humidity droped to 62% and has stayed at 62% still. what could be the problem
ps the small camacho was bought previous of my purchasing the humidor and spent 3 weeks out of a humidor so its dry as a bone. what should i do to increase my humidity? thanks im a bit worried guys i dont wanna buy anymore cigars until its up to 70%. Re: Humidor Trouble!
Why are you worried? 62% is perfect. But if you want to raise it, go buy some of viber's beads. Then no problems.

Re: Humidor Trouble!
Mine's been fluctuating between 62 and 64 percent the last week. I'm not too worried. It's in a good range.

Re: Humidor Trouble!
the whole 70% rh is basically up to you.. I keep mine around 65, you will find others that keep them as low as 60, or as high as 72!! it is a matter of how you like your smokes..
some may say that the higher the humidity, the slower the cigar smokes, and they like that.. Others may disagree, and not like their smokes to be too moist.. The #1 thing to remember in cigar smoking and collecting, is that it is ENTIRELY UP TO YOU! How do YOU like your smokes? What kind of smokes do YOU like? I cannot read all the reviews and ratings and reccomendations on cigars.. I like to try as many smokes as i can, and develop my own opnion.. And you should too! So basically, dont sweat the RH as long as its within the 62-72 range.. What you would need to be concened with is if your humi rh fluctautes.. Relax, cigars are a hobby.. You should not be stressing over a few degrees in RH!

Re: Humidor Trouble!
62%, that could be dangerous. I think you better send me some of your smokes to check them out. I would not want you to get hurt!!!
I am assuming you have the same problems in the Great White North that we have in New England. It is just so dry this time of year and if you are not religious about checking the humidor, you having some of your precious stogies dry out on you. I just ordered some beads to help with mine. Last month I had some heat issues. The furnace died and our heat was off and on for a three weeks. I think things are OK now, but a couple of the cigars had some wrapper damage. You are OK. I would just keep on top of it. A lot of humidors do not have enough humidification in them. Consider adding some beads or an extra humitube during the winter months.

What happened was the dry cigar you put in there sucked up some extra humidity. Keep up what you are doing. The humi will level off at 65% in a few days. However, you are fine exactly were it is now. Enjoy and dont worry.

Re: Humidor Trouble!
Yeah, mine have been at 62% at times in the past without any problems, however I prefer 65%.

Re: Humidor Trouble!
Talk to me when ur humi is at 48%...which my new one was for several days. Dry cleveland air will do that. I corrected mine with a few very cheap methods...keep in mind my humi got full real quick. I had no space to correct. I used wax paper to keep my cigars dry and used damp paper towels (distilled water) on top of the wax paper to correct the humidity. My humi is now at 69%...and the cigars are smoking like champs. I worried like yourself but Im learning not to stress so much.
