But I'm guessing that the 50% who die from that are not regular smokers. I know I've built up quite a tolerance to nicotine.

Reminds me of an old Dire Straits song which has a lyric of "Nicotine for breakfast".

Many years back, I did a science project on nicotine (HS class of '87!). There is more than enough nicotine in a single cigar to kill an average human, if ingested all at once. The body breaks down the nicotine rather quickly, not letting it build up so we are safe puffing our sticks even during the fastest puff, puff passes!

Nicotine overdose deaths are ugly. We obviously never tortured animals, but the readings we did for the project described a rather gruesome death.

My lab partner and I chose this specific project just as an excuse to smoke DURING science class instead of going off school property and hiding in an alley to hotbox a cigarette. I remember walking into class with a Macanudo Porto Fino Tubo and a lighter! I'm pretty sure the school let us do the project to scare us away from smoking...It obviously didn't work, but my taste in cigars has greatly improved over the last 20 years.

I smoked 6 on Friday... Winston Churchill smoked no less than 10 a day - EVERY day. Guess I have probably died a couple of times already.

Re: 1st ever 4 cigar evening!!!

I smoked 3 on Friday night and that was intense. I smoked a Taboo Costa Rican Maduro, a Rocky Patel Vintage 92 mini torp and Nub Cameron. My throat was extremely scratchy in the morning.

Re: 1st ever 4 cigar evening!!!

Congrats - sounds like a good evening. Your body will get used to it.

When we drove up for CIGARfest - I had 6 in the car on the way up. I then had a Nub Habano 466 at the CI store when we got there and something else before we went to sleep (can't remember what it was). I had to scrape my tongue with a putty knife before I went to bed. I had about 25 cigars over a 4 day stretch. Good times.

Smoked a DPG blue, CAO gold maduro and a JDN antano last night. After the JDN I was done. Way to hang in there for the fourth one

Torano Virtuoso for breakfast, an RP Edge for afternoon, and finished it off with an RP Signature in the evening.

If I am destined to die from smoking too many in a single day, then it's a great way to go in my eyes.

Class of '87? Jeez man - I have clothes in my closet older than that.

Re: 1st ever 4 cigar evening!!!

It could be worse. I graduated in 07'

But pack to the thread Most I've ever smoked is 3 in a day. The new Cubao, Illusione 88 and a Perdomo champagne to end the night. It was a good day in my book.

I'm sorry, but I believe you have misstated the "facts". By your reasoning there should be several cigars smokers dropping dead daily.
Smoking without inhaling is a very inefficient delivery system for nicotine.
I believe the actual amount of nicotine absorbed into the blood stream is a very small % of the actual nicotine content of the raw product. Also, a cigar is consumed over a period of time allowing the body to metabolize a portion of the absorbed nicotine. While herfing with friends yesterday I smoke 8 or nine over a 10hr period. I think everyone consumed at least 5 or 6 and they left early or came late.

Very true...We monitored heart rate and Blood pressure both inhaling and not inhaling (later dubbed "Clinton-ing ) It is only a small % that is absorbed through the membranes in the mouth and throat. Much more is absorbed in the lungs and small vessels therein. Nicotine is also absorbed/metabolized very quickly by the body.
