I have heard much good about the ECCJ. My only complaint regards the availability. I've never been able to find it. I suppose this has more to do with the B & Ms I frequent than the publication itself. Anyways, this review has cemented the idea that a one-year subscription would be worth the try.
I don't think ECCJ is available at any News & Magazine Stands, Book Stores or B&Ms within the USA. I have always ordered online. Here is one link that may help: http://www.magazinesworld.net/P/Euro...urnal,779.html

Re: Cigar Magazine Comparisons

I bought ECCJ last week at Barnes and Noble. They usually shelve the cigar mags on the bottom shelf under the cooking mags.

Re: Cigar Magazine Comparisons

A great idea and thank you Doc. ECCJ is my current favorite, behind that would be Smoke and then cigar magazine and cigar press are I guess tied for 3rd. Cigar Magazine has great articles but the review section is heavily populated with certain cigars that i have no desire to smoke.

Re: Cigar Magazine Comparisons

I personally dislike CA as a magazine, and haven't read many others because until recently they where hard to find and I didn't want to sub. So I look forward to your reviews.

I've always wanted to do my own magazine, but never was sure how.

Re: Cigar Magazine Comparisons

I don't do magazines for that very reason....it's all ads.

For my other hobby, guitars, I am subscribed to a mag, but only because the company I'm an avid follower of gave us all free subscriptions last March...so I took them up on it. That mag was actually pretty good, as it showed a musician gear they never heard of before, but it was still a giant marketing schtick. I'll kill the subscription at the end of the free period, as I've never heard a single bad comment about any piece of gear, including one I personally own and know the flaws of.

This seems to be the problem with many mags...playing "well, we need the ad dollars"....guess what? If you are dead honest with your reviews, you might be able to charge buku bucks per year...people will pay good money for good information. On the other hand, people won't pay much if anything for bunk content.

The one in Issaquah at Pickering Place -- behind Costco.
